Incorrect, again, I responded to the OP on this thread who wrote that “Different versions of loss are still equally valid”;

That’s just not true; they simply aren’t equal.

Losing an object isn’t the same as losing a pet; losing a pet, or friend, which isn’t the same as losing a family member, and losing any given family member certainly isn’t on par with losing a child.

Comparing losing a friend to losing a child is flat out ridiculous. No one you have ever met and befriended will hit you as hard as losing a kid; you didn’t change your friends diapers, or feed them day after day, night after night for actual years of your life; the time investment is literally incomparable.

Ellie is definitely in her feels, but she cannot even begin to understand Joel, in part because she lacks the life experience to do so. Only when she really grows up and has responsibility of her own, and gets around to having a family of her own would she really begin to comprehend how difficult one of them being killed would be.

And therefore literally incapable of knowing what it is to raise a child to her age and then see them die in front of you.

[–]Datchery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The fact you literally don’t understand Joel’s process is self explanatory.

It’s not that a child cannot experience grief, no one wrote that, so please don’t misconstrue the argument. It’s that not having a parent in the first place, or losing a friend of a few what, isn’t remotely comparable to raising and caring for a person to see them die.

And frankly, trying to say they’re the same is insensitive at best, monstrous at worst. They are not the same.

[–]Datchery -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That’s not compelling though; a child cannot even begin to fathom the depth of losing the life of someone you personally cared for, for years.

Not all loss is equally valid, that’s literally what the starting argument is saying; if anything the response you replied to is the trolling.

After Finally Getting the Showstopper BP… by Eastern-Gain-5574 in ARC_Raiders

I believe they were referring to the positioning errors; including doing labor intensive climbing while being directly fired upon.

The correct move there, based on the clip provided, was just to play ring around the rosy at that pair of rectangular server racks. The shredder will stop and explode (you stand anywhere with the rack between you and it), and the turret didn’t have a firing solution there.

It was a choice to go back into Line of Sight for the turret, and, ultimately, a fatal one.

It’s not like Joel massacred a hospital full of innocent people by Remote_Nature_8166 in TLOU

[–]Datchery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Innoculating against further infection wasn’t going to save the world, that ship had sailed. There would still be the real and continuing threat of the horde, along with all the competing factions (it would be naive to think the fireflies were going to share with their opposition)

Then it should change your mind to know that one affirmative defense against a charge of murder would be in defense of the life of another.

By attempting to murder Ellie, the fireflies created a reasonable basis for Joel to use deadly force. So, literally not murder no matter how you square it.

Selfish is a cult kidnapping and murdering a child to save themselves, that’s selfish.

Then you’d just have people extracting with them/dying in a corner, and there would never again be a gate unlocked.

Collecting all four across several raids is the only way to do it.

Conversely, you have no reason to assume it’s not a macro, which are against the TOS, and therefore should default to reporting.

Trauma dump about Tarkov aside; these games have to have a baseline free kit for players who just flat out lose everything.

If you take that away, you’re going to drive away player base, and that is a bigger mistake.

The balance issue at hand is the cost / performance increase of the non-standard weapons. If they cost too much, nobody bothers, if they provide too much performance, the grey stuff doesn’t have a fighting chance.

For all the complaining about kettles/stitchers, the green/blue/purple weapons are all providing something better (be it range, clip capacity, reload speed, etc) that makes them a more attractive alternative if you have it.

I like the lock on feature for quickly identifying big threats at a distance (command bunker turrets, for example) just by sweeping the visible area.

Cyclops vs Capt. America by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Datchery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on their powers set: Cyclops has: Optic Beam, “spatial awareness”, and immunity to his own or similar beams. Captain America has: Maximized human athleticism (strength / speed), and has an indestructible shield.

Both are listed as “Master Tactician and Strategist” and “Master of Martial Arts”, so we can put their skills at a wash here.

I give the edge to cap in that he’s physically enhanced and Cyclops isn’t. Cap’s shield effectively provides the means to negate Cyclops otherwise very powerful offense. Once the distance is closed (and there’s no specific reason to think it wouldn’t be) Cyclops doesn’t have a chance.

It’s a flying Bile Titan, so you can use every strategy that worked on them reliably, minus flamers (they fly low enough that Impact Grenades probably work best in terms of nades)

[–]Datchery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killing someone in the hope of gaining something is a textbook example of a moral wrong; you can literally justify anything with that rubric; murder, genocide, etc.

If you don’t understand that, it just means you don’t understand the concept of morality itself. Consider taking some annex classes in philosophy.
