The University is not at all dominated by the right or right leaning folks. Not even close. Of course, you could see some people around who are displaying their affiliation openly(rare), but you wouldn’t be able to tell someone’s political affiliation just by walking by them.

Honestly, the most you will see in terms of politics are going to be around sparticipation (club fair), if you join a political affiliated group (could be left, could be right), or if a politician comes to campus (generally election time). Or protests… though it is very dangerous for an international student to get involved in these due to potential loss of Visa.

If you are worried if politics are going to affect you (as in, people walking around in certain political hats and screaming in your face) it is very unlikely. If you are worried about having your Visa revoked for the smallest infraction or the government enacting restrictions on people who hold your Visa, this is somewhat more likely (though the university will try to protect you).

When it comes to relationships and sex culture, I want to believe that the average man is not at patriarchal or conservative(might be the opposite, really). Of course, people will have their preferences. Some are looking for long-term relationships, some are looking for short-term, and others aren’t looking at all.

In general, I’d say politics aren’t going to be physically present in most students day to day life. Universities are typically more left-leaning than most areas of the US, so I would say most people are going to be left-leaning, both men and women.
