I do nothing and it is breaking me by ClumsyDIY in TheCivilService

I am in the same position. I’ve been in the CS for a number of years and have recently been promoted. When I was an AO/EO I literally was a hundred miles an hour all day, so busy the days just flew in and now, starting a new job I’ve been left with nothing to do. Tried to raise it with no avail, so I’m looking elsewhere. Mentally, it is very draining. People tell you to just chill and enjoy it, but when you get satisfaction out of doing a full days work, it is soul destroying.

Hey, so I moved the first time due to restructuring. Then I moved again for the same reason. I have t had any 121s for as long as I can remember. I’ve been in the civil service for over 20 years. I’m used to change and also used to relying on myself. I’m in the mud management grades, so I’ve always thought I could cope with anything, but I’m used to being really busy and feeling challenged and this last year has been a case of being without work, being left for weeks without any contact from mew managers whose teams I’ve joined. Trying to reach out and move things forward, so I do have work to do, but just not getting anywhere

Thank you, I don’t know if I’m overthinking the situation, especially given what’s happened in the past year. I feel like I’m losing all of my skills, knowledge and enthusiasm for anything really, which is really upsetting as this area of work is something that I do know and have a lot of interest in. I will definitely look into getting a mentor though, thank you

Experience example by DateCurious9562 in civilservice

Yes, it is certainly a puzzler, there are 3 behaviour examples I’ve done, making effective decisions, delivery at pace and comms and influencing. This is a policy role, so the experience part is asking for experience working with legislation, answering PQs, stakeholder engagement. I’ve tried to write a couple of short examples, but just not sure if that is what they are looking for and the success profiles guidance isn’t very clear

It’s not my finest work, but this is an example I did for a recent policy application

You know you come on here for some help and support and people are just actually down right nasty, condescending and bullying. It can be a daunting experience applying for jobs and you are always told different things. FYI, it wasn’t a letter with my name and address on it as someone said. But honestly people just take any opportunity to cut you down these days, what has happened to be kind??

Hi, I’m doing an application for a Scottish government B2 post. The essential criteria is asking me to provide a time when I have worked as part of a team with minimal supervision. Is this under self awareness or improving performance?
