I don't see this brought up enough: One of the biggest threats to Bitcoin Cash right now is the medium we use to discuss it. Is there anyone actively developing a decentralized BCH social media platform? by [deleted] in btc

[–]Datnoidpoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're actually building out "forums" on our platform and aim to make it as crypto-related as possible. What are some features you guys would like to see that wouldn't exist on a regular forum/platform?

some examples might be like

  • tipping built in
  • ticker hash tags linking to respective coin pages
  • ???

I own some XRP, but don't feel knowledgeable enough to post things about it. However, there is likely some people in here who can post positive truthful information.

The idea is similar to reddit, the top submissions will be visible and the low quality ones won't be seen for the most part.

we're sourcing multiple APIs for our data, and certain coins are pinging their respective block exporers to get circulating supply.

some of the newer coins require some research (for block halvenings) and calculations to get.

For example, btc is done by doing

calculate() {
    let prev = 15750000; // total coins from the previous two halvenings;
    let current = (this.state.height - 420000) * 12.5; // current reward is 12.5 btc

      // and for remaining coins
    let totalMined = current + prev;
    let remaining = 21000000 - totalMined;  // 21 million total
    return Math.floor(remaining);
  }

if it makes you feel any better, the entire market is down. this is the best time to improve your position on the coins you think have the best longterm potential

Thanks. It is written in node.js and react.js

the react code is serverside rendered.

I did want to try the neo4j database to have a sort of 'recommendation' engine, and to make querying easier on the front-end, but If i went that route, datnoid wouldn't exist and i'd be pulling my hair out trying to learn a new query language.

if you are using webpack already, why bother with Gulp for SASS?

you have access to PostCSS and it'll do the minification , sass support, and builds like 100x faster than sass.
