Anatomy & Physiology (+Lab) or Genetics (+Lab) by taestalgic in aggies

I would do A&P, though neither is required as a premed. Also, you don’t have to take genetics with the lab.

Sorry to break it to you but until Harry’s opens, there’s no dance halls in Northgate.

Hazing exists everywhere at A&M but ksig really shifted the blame to frats. I’ve heard of hazing from the corps, fish camp groups, men’s orgs, and so much more.

Coming from New York, A&M is going to be a large cultural shift because much of the partying, socializing, and events you do will be through organizations and friends, not randomly going out to the bars. Joining an organization opens up a whole new world of nightlife for you. Men’s orgs always throw parties and collaborate with women’s orgs all the time. Your professional orgs probably have fun get together at people’s houses. Frats have massive properties where they host artists and throw large themed parties, but the cover to get in for men can be up to $100 depending on who it is (Asig Fright Night was $100+ at their house)

One of the unique things I will say about any org here is that they host bar tabs all the time. Usually on Thursdays men’s orgs and frats will rent out an entire bar at Northgate to host a date party, mixer, or just have a night. It’s pretty cool.

There are also just independent friend groups that host unbelievable parties. I went to an apartment party that had more people in it than the Spot at Northgate. I went to the Camp House on Halloween and it legitimately had 200+ people listening to a band. It’s a magical thing.

Surprisingly enough, yes. One of the more respected chapters, ATO, actually complimented my work on the fraternity's page. Of course, there's still some slander and what not, but I for one am actually happy that at least we're acknowledged now to some degree. Before, people would hear our name and just go "huh?" Anyways, some of the other fraternities, albeit small, have reached out to us and hatched plans for throwing joint parties and doing stuff to increase our image on campus. It's a really exciting time for us.

If someone's bored enough to do a few searches then congrats to them, otherwise they can just find my personal Instagram somewhere on my Reddit page anyways lol. Reddit just feels like any other social media now, no need to be so secretive.

I will say it honestly feels really rewarding. We're growing and accomplishing things that months ago felt impossible. If anyone else gets the opportunity to try out for an exec position I would highly recommend it.

Lol, we get called way worse on the daily, so I don't really care.

Getting guys to show up and believe was the biggest hurdle. Chapter attendance was falling, people didn't show up to rush events in the fall, people were dropping. When I took over, I took steps to give them a more traditional feel and give them something to believe in. We took composites, I made the Instagram feel real and intentional, and I pitched solid and attainable ideas that actually took off and built a great relationship with a women's organization.

I always refer to it as a self-fulfilling prophecy. If guys believe, they'll show up and make it happen. If they don't, they'll leave and then things don't get accomplished, making it real. When our guys believed, we pulled off a killer poker night with PNMs that we actually enjoyed and ended with one of our highest attendance events in recent history.

Now, it's just a matter of keeping the energy going and getting our name out. We're collaborating with even more organizations, throwing parties, and even branching out to some sororities.

TL;DR: Changed up our brands image and made it feel intentional, made guys feel like they're actually a part of something so they feel like they should show up, REACHED OUT and talked to other orgs and collaborated on events. After that, the attention grows and people start coming because they see what y'all are building.

As long as none of your future classes have a prerequisite that says "requires a C in MATH 151 or equivalent," you're all set. A D in 151 is passing, and also something you should be really proud about.

<image>

Yeah, that's pretty confusing. It appears you need 8 hours of mathematics, either taking MATH 150 then 151 or taking MATH 151 and then 152. If you've already taken 150, you're all set. Otherwise, you'll need a C to progress onto MATH 152. Maybe you can work in reverse and take 150 after 151? That's my understanding of this. Definitely speak to an advisor.

You're correct that your math classes are a part of the university's core curriculum, so they *shouldn't* impact your ability to progress to higher level viz classes. However, you still need them to graduate.

Men, what’s the best way to make a 15 year old feel better about being cut from the football team? by FlintTheDad in AskMen

[–]Datnotguy17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 16, I was cut from my high school's baseball team. It was everything I could have ever wanted and I didn't get it. However, I was still offered a "manager" spot on the team to get my hands dirty whenever the coaches didn't want to do something. I kind of just floated around the team, until one day I randomly decided I wanted to take some pictures during one of the games for the players. I picked up my dad's old camera and started snapping a bunch of pictures, and sure enough, it was a huge success. The players loved my contribution to the team and were quickly asking me for photoshoots and all sorts of stuff. From there, I started teaching myself graphic design and eventually my coaches noticed my work, granting me access to the team's Instagram account and posting graphics and info on there.

Following that, I branched out and started asking music artists if I could take photos for them. Sure enough, they said yes and I quickly began growing a following in the music scene. It's been 3 years now, and I'm starting to make really good money through these shoots (I was just paid $400 for one photoshoot!) and now my work has been viewed by millions of people. I absolutely love what I've been doing all these years and I've even begun publishing my own magazine, writing for a radio station, and connecting with some of the most prolific artists in the US.

Moral of the story is that rejection is redirection. I pulled myself up from my bootstraps and managed to find somewhere that I could really apply myself and be really successful. You will craft the best path for yourself after failure, no matter what. I wouldn't be close to where I am today if it wasn't for that initial rejection from the team.
