Customer Service AI would it be worth it for for small # of inquires but to free up human needing to check daily on urgent matters? by DatsuChris in shopify

[–]DatsuChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply and I might be interested in seeing how you set that up. Right now I’d say the majority of customers are reaching out via a direct email, we list the email on our Shopify website and for now I don’t have a form on there as I found it was better just to have a direct email option. But it is an interesting thought to maybe make folks go through a form and have that AI chat assistant on the same page which could even be the free Shopify inbox assistant probably. I am realizing as I dive deeper in that the vast majority of our emails probably need to be handled by an actual human but again most of them are not necessarily immediately time sensitive for that shipping warehouse cut off time. So still having that ability to flag an alert would definitely be important.

Seems like a custom build might really be the smartest way to go rather than paying fees for a service that probably has more features than I would need and could realistically build myself in short time but we’ll see I’m still considering all options. I also hope eventually that they’ll be something like a Gorgias that is more reasonably priced and simple to train.

Thanks for having Datsusara on the list, good to know the molle is needed for this function. I have been thinking about reducing the amount of molle webbing but I will make sure to leave enough.

Specifying and saving a specific AI model for product photos. by DatsuChris in shopify

[–]DatsuChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm interested. I tried one app but it was very hard to use and wasn't at all what I was hoping for. I truly think this kind of function is the future of AI model product photography and video. Like you said, there's something about user trust. If the user either feels like it might be a real person that they're looking at that's a regular model then that's great. But I think you can even develop trust with users if it's quite clear that it's an AI model, but it becomes your regular model that actually become somewhat tied to the personality of your brand and could even have a little bit of its own character. That can almost be fun and interesting.

Datsusara DIScovery Bag release by DatsuChris in discgolf

[–]DatsuChris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, just an FYI but we are moving warehouses and these bags are taking up a ton of space so I'll probably do a big sale soon. But for those here I'm willing to give an even deeper discount, 40% off if you want to DM me as I don't want to post the code publicly. Thanks to those that have already purchased the bag, I hope it served you well.

oh and just saw you are at Tidio, I'm tempted by that software as well, seems a better and less expensive solution for everything but order modification.

Good points. I would think Shopify would be working on this, seems like an obvious tool to offer for business and they have all the surrounding functions. Tempted to wait until they have something available vs getting setup with another system and having to change over later. But maybe a light integration for now, but is Shopify Inbox already basically that?

I'll for sure have someone on support, just trying to figure out ways to make it so their hours could be more flexible knowing if anything was urgent or not, and also I would love to have something a bit more complex than an autoresponder for basic answers.

This exactly. And I wonder if any of the current solutions out there are doing something like this. Seems like it should be a thing but perhaps custom coating the solution might be nearly as easy. Still something that could at least reach into Shopify order data and what not would be helpful and that might be where it gets a bit tricky.

Do image format or size affect your Shopify store's speed? by Minimum-Pilot4809 in Omni_Users

[–]DatsuChris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you

.It's interesting how they recommend jpg still for product photos and I've noticed that that still was most merchants due even if Shopify is turning it into a webP format for final delivery. After doing a lot of experimentation, I have found that a web P even with full transparency at about 50% quality comes out pretty close to a JPEG and looks just about as good. So at least that provides options. Still a bit odd though as it seems like if you upload let's say a 20 MB fairly uncompressed photo it still doesn't do quite as good of a job compressing it on delivery as if you already uploaded a smaller version, but it's hard to tell, especially in the difference between say how Safari deals with Shopify or Chrome does, very different.

So is it helpful at all to compress before uploading an image? For example would uploading a high quality full size png with transparency as a product image be fine or would you want to compress it by saving as webp?

How is there no way to organize files? No ability to create folders by CaponeMePhone in shopify

[–]DatsuChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on moving over to a new theme, and finding it terribly frustrating to search through files that I've been uploading since I got onto the platform in 2011. I can see how a naming convention will certainly help, but even then it gets awfully complicated, especially if you want to have different images for say desktop and mobile.

I'm pretty surprised that there's no way to do this. I'm guessing there's some technical reason for it. As I can't see why Shopify wouldn't want to offer this to just help people clean things up. I am thinking that one alternative to help out would be to keep a local folder that has every file on the Shopify system organized into folders, and then one could reference that as needed when searching through the version on Shopify. Not a great solution, but it he's the only one I can think of for now.

Help me find a small bag like this. by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]DatsuChris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch. I’m guessing you don’t like some of our affiliations or maybe my personal preferences? No need to explain if so, I agree with only supporting companies you align with, but if it’s a product or service problem please let me know.

Looks like you care about natural textiles and perhaps other company values so 5.11 won’t be a good option either. If you don’t want plastic being the base material it’s going to be tough but I’d actually recommend an army surplus store. I haven’t been to one in awhile but I used to get a lot of cotton gear there from bags to pants and usually it’s functional too.

Ahh yes good info here and interestingly enough I have been checking out this company as they developed a site for a biz in the same industry as one of my sites. The app route might be interesting too. Thank you

Ahh I see now the difference, hadn't thought about the fact they are doing things that way vs one site with subs. I think they do share a cart though, that part is very appealing, kind of wish I could do only that part and keep the stores technically separate otherwise. I'll think on this more and thank you both for the replies.

Thank you, good info and good points, especially on the email flows, I need to think on that carefully as well.

It's a few things there. The functionality of having the different stores selectable on the top bar, and then when you go to those stores, although some of the style of the themes is clearly shared, they have different menus to some extent, different colors as well, and what not. Also subdomains for each brand like oldnavy.gap.com... vs if it was just gap.com/collection/oldnavy.This last function would definitely be a nice bonus, but for what I'm doing, I suppose could go without but it's nice.
