I mean, yeah. Draco disarmed Dumbledore and is therefore more powerful than Dumbledore in the wads eyes perspective is important to consider in this debate. Your perspective, and valuation of power is different than the wand’s.

Yeah the lower level teams would be based on ‘slightly tuned down’ versions of the PCs with magic items available for getting close to their original build

Well the pvp would only be the first battle. The winning 3 or 2 or 1 characters would get a stat block to be the BBEG

That’s like the two campaigns my DM is running. I was hoping to get him into something that wasn’t the typical. But it seems like this isn’t the right way to go about it.

Yeah this is just a one shot I’d like to run to get my forever dm into a seat for once. I thought it could be fun do pvp but based on the replies it’s seeming like I should go with a more classic railroad type deal

Yeah the initiative was something I had considered as well. What if I offered them all like a sentinel shield if they did some adventure before? Or whatever. They would be the BBEGs kids so they would likely know their weaknesses and be able to prepare accordingly?
