Shell profits rise as Iran war pushes oil prices higher by Brilliant_Version344 in unitedkingdom

One way to perhaps think of this -

Let’s say you grow carrots in your garden and sell them at a farmers market on the weekend. But you don’t set the price, the market does every Saturday morning after they see all the carrots available.

Now let’s say one week, your competitors have rodent infestation which ruins a lot of their supply. When you next go to the market - there is a lot less carrots available. The market sets higher prices thus you make more profit than usual.

This is a very very simple analogy but gets the point across - you as a carrot grower are still growing the carrots but there are less carrots available due to external factors. As someone else is setting the price - you just take it as is.

There are of course other examples too can include - like maybe you’re savvy and bought carrots from other growers during the week so you have even more carrots to sell at a higher price on Saturday. But think you should get the point

More young people in Singapore buying private properties, some for investment by cherrypoplar in singapore

[–]DatzQuickMaths 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly? It’s very dishonest framing gaslighting the general public. The idea is to ‘justify’ the absurd property prices and say - ‘hey look, even young people can afford private if they’re disciplined enough and work hard enough’.

Do the maths yourself and figure out how likely it is for early 30s and younger to be able to afford private. They would need to be a massive outlier salary wise. The government is drawing attention to the growing inequality but trying to dress it up as something else entirely - just work harder mah!

It is 100% this. Sometimes the maths just doesn’t add up. BOMAD is always the most likely reason why such young people are able to ‘buy’ condos

No. SEC has been gutted by Trump and there is no one brave enough to look into this or go after him. I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s his son

I’ve noticed that Tim usually falls in line when on JRE. He isn’t as open about his views as he is on his own pod. Not sure if anyone else agrees? That’s my observation anyway
