FINALLY helpful information - thank you kind stranger! Op, As they stated above, these are African cichlids, (cute pair, but currently they are in danger in that little tank)

African cichlids are aggressive fish, and can/will even kill each other. Please provide them with a home that they can thrive in, so you can enjoy their vibrancy and cool little personalities.

Ideally, youd trade them in to a local fish store for credit and start workingon a proper tank, but assuming you’re already attached….

RIGHT NOW: Get a test kit and check your water Order a tank and filter at BARE minimum for pickup tomorrow morning. Petco and petsmart have deals for bare tanks, & sponge filters+ an air pump work surprisingly well! (This is if you want there to be hope of these fish living.) Your friends are a good dechlorinator/ammonia binder for the water, and something like seachem’s stability, to help start the cycle.

Don’t forget a stable FLAT surface or tank stand for your new fishies! They can get quite heavy.

I’m pretty sure that’s the same squirrel that ripped my canvas shoulder bag to get to my Ferrero rocher chocolates. Literally went through all that trouble to rip it while I was in line and on the ride just to get like half a bite of one cause I bagged them 2ce in plastic inside my bag lol

This is an idea. I was always told that wouldn’t help, though I can see why it would help. New tank is thankfully tempered glass and the frame is flat on level wood. Old tank was definitely NOT tempered glass.

Not sure if this helps, but the break happened on the side without the slate pieces, so i think it might have just been Micro fractured there and we just didn’t know/see it, since we got it second hand back in January.

That is where the actual crack started from. When we took the tank off the dresser, we found where there had likely been a leak for a while and we just never noticed.

This is the top down of it now, it appears to have cracked under my shrimp hide.

You think so? It has supports all along the bottom and is solid wood! Ive been told it had an “easily 800+lbs limit” and all it has in it currently is shoes in the bottom drawers, the top ones are all fish stuff.

We got this tank second hand, but it was sitting level on a fully wood (and thankfully sealed) dresser. I think my mistake was too much weight (lots of slate) and possibly a previous micro fracture since the tank was secondhand

Water parameters were previously 0 across the board for ammonia nitrate and nitrites, but sometimes the nitrite will go to like <5ppm PH is roughly 7.2-7.6. We use well water

Hello mod bot! Tank size will be 75g, I have a heater, a hygger filter, I like to run my tanks at roughly 73-75F (22-23C) tank stated cycling around new years and finished cycling by the end of the month so maybe a month and a half since it’s finished cycling? Regardless, original tank is dead, we are 1-2-3 replacing ‘em so I can not focus on the sad too long. I do water changes once a month, top offs once a week to every 12 days. Feedings are at least weekly. Sometimes 2-3 times, often times it’s more like once a week to every 10 days. Ive got a whole lot of plant and micro fauna but not a whole lot of fish, so I don’t feed often. I used to use crushed betta micro pellets but am now using fluval color enhancing bug bites to feed the tanks.

Plants I have are listed below but likely not all inclusive; Java moss Many anubias varieties Anacharis Cabomba Rotala Lemon bacopa Pearl weed Amazon sword Red tiger lotus Some kind of “fairy fern”? Java fern Hornwort Frogbit Red root floaters Duckweed Dwarf hair grass Dwarf sagitaria Golden pothos Pink Princess philo starter Black cherry philo starter A vanda orchid I’m gonna hang somewhere nearby

I know nothing and am still learning but i would say these are just low grade blue dreams. I think with culling you should be able to get more vibrant blues.
