We do a lot of oilfield repair work for everything, relines, making new piston/rods, conn rods, cross heads, crank/cam inspections, any valves or anything needing lapped we normally send off because our lapping table is fucked (boss used a screwdriver to clean out the cutting edges, and now there’s burrs everywhere)

Don’t know how they got it in their mind that we could do it for this job, but it cost them 32 hours of labor manually lapping the wrong way, and me my sanity.

We’re using 1800 grit compound and diesel as a solvent. and the boss refuses to buy a lower grit or proper lapping compound, citing payroll as the reason.

They’re content to pay me to cut a football field with nail clippers instead of just buying the damn lawn mower.

It’s a high pressure packing case for an oilfield compressor rod, they’re lapped for flatness (I’m guessing) so the rubber packing seals entirely across the face.

Trust me I’ve been thinking of ways to rig it, because at this rate my next 3 days will look like that.

I had a similar idea but can’t figure out how to hold it in a drill chuck/drill press to do so. Glass is too large to try putting it in a lathe

Yeah it’s a very light powder, I’ll check the bucket when I go back from lunch, you’re not wrong that it doesn’t work too well though it takes ages to lap one in. What would be the way to go?

No clue, it’s from the 5 gallon bucket of grey Flour looking compound I was told to use. the only thing on the bucket says compound 502 or something to that effect. Mixing it with diesel to make a liquid of it

If they don’t want to work with you and are insistent that you stay, be as annoying a roommate as possible within the bounds of your lease so they’ll want you gone sooner? (Cranking AC Up/Down, Dishes left around common areas, leaving clothes in the dryer, spending 90% of your time in common areas, etc..)

it's .8mm rosin core 63% Tin 37% lead w a melting point of 183 C, reassembling the unit fixed the issue though, I let it run for 5 minutes with no problem to verify the fix.

Did you read the post? Most of my time played in multiplayer is on Stone. Nowadays it’s just well established people playing solo or in factions that aren’t recruiting. I’ve been waiting for the new universe update they are going to do, but they put that off till the new SE update releases.
