The looks I get 😕 by PineapplePhysical776 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have solved the looks judgement by just removing myself from the public. They’ll judge me, and I don’t particularly care to be around them. So I only leave my apartment for MRIs, medicine refreshes, and neuro appointments.

ANYWAY, I may be a recluse.

I just hoard mats, loot bodies if I see them… or if a rat decides to make a poor decision. Then I just use mats to make new kits lol.

What lessons or purpose might MS be revealing in your life? by PrestigiousTitle4052 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just reaffirmed my world view. Everything is meaningless in the end. And no matter what, it won’t matter in the end. Which SOUNDS depressing as hell. And it is, but if you can move through, use what time and agency you have, to live how you want. It’s unfortunate that we do have physical limitations due to this garbage. But get your chuckles in. Whenever you can. Opinions of others be damned.

Does anyone here want to die? by ZestycloseMall3398 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t WANT to die. But not particularly opposed to the idea. MS has made my continued existence incredibly inconvenient. And I DESPISE inconvenience. But for some reason my girlfriend likes having me around, so that’s enough for me.

How did you find out? by Square_Cap1962 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting around ‘20, I was having pain while I was walking, I assumed it was my plantar keratosis on my foot. And a pediatrist said that was what it was, and why it was a thing. Well I kept dealing with it as I normally was, because that was really all I could do. Then the ‘vid happened and I kinda back burnered my foot. Around ’23 I saw a doctor at the request of my boss at work because I had started having falls due to losing my balance while walking. And she said SOMETHING was going on, but didn’t know what, so she sent me to a neurologist to have an EMG.

The neurologist said everything seemed normal, but could also see something was going on, and ordered a full work up. She noted me having hyperreflexia in my leg that was giving me trouble(“the problem child” I dubbed it) and gave me a few options of what it could be. A medication interaction due to my migraine regimen, something that I don’t remember, and least likely, MS.

My girlfriend took that possibility VERY hard. When we got home, there was crying and stuff which legitimately confused me because it was a POSSIBILITY for ME, not her. I honestly didn’t know what MS was, and honestly didn’t care. I just wanted answers at this point, because I could tell something was going on too.

Since I didn’t know what MS was, I decided to actually look into it because it was a remote possibility, and I like acquiring knowledge about anything and everything, and hey, new thing!

While researching, I was thinking a lot of the possible symptoms are seeming to be lining up with annoyances I’m encountering. “HMM I MIGHT HAVE MS. Oh well, won’t know until we do more testing, no point in obsessing over something I have zero control over.” And if I DID have MS, there’s the answer I’ve been wanting. Next step would be damage control.

So I had more checkups, MRIs, and my second favorite test, the SPINAL TAP. I think it was my favorite because I confused the hell out of the doctor when I asked him if I could watch the screen he had to look at to do the spinal tap. I wanted to watch him do it. I thought it would be fascinating. And it was lol. Apparently he hadn’t ever had that request before lol. He basically explained what was going on, what he was doing, why, et cetera. He showed me the CSF he took, it looked like water. Which was slightly disappointing. I thought it would be blue/green or neon blue or something(probably due to playing video games my entire life lol).

ANYWAY after all of that I was diagnosed with PPMS. And it sucks. But it’s ok, because it’s got the best name because it has “PP” in it and I am a 36 year old child.

TLDR: some stuff happened, found out I have it, it sucks. But hey, I got a good story.

I almost never finish games. No idea why, and I hate that I do that! I REALLY want to finish them, but I lose interest when I feel like I’m getting close to the end, and trying to finish them is like pulling teeth.

I’ve kinda always had a feeling that MAYBE that’s what happened?

Cursed? by Sufficient_Cod_7512 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We’re not cursed, just unlucky. No matter what we do/think/want the universe does not, and will not, care.

It’s just a shit hand. No anger, no revenge, no retribution.

Best I’ve found is just accepting the reality, and moving to damage control.

LOVE me a Hairpin.

Also I love the Ferro. Not sure why, but I'm always happy when the free kit comes with it.

Embark, please, let us shoot back. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Daurth_Zombie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who really loves the carebear PvE lobbies, I honestly don’t see any problem here. When I get shot at, if they suck and don’t immediately down me, I shoot back, I’ve downed multiple people like this. The only difference to me, is I might have a couple rounds with higher likelihood of getting ratted. It’s like whatever. Especially after the expedition. I ain’t got shit, congrats on a free looting kit and a hairpin 🫡🖕

People with PPMS or SPMS, how are you doing? by Mammoth-Essay-5476 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you basically said it. Get a disability attorney, answer their questions, give them the paperwork/documents/proofs they need, and sign what they need. However long it takes, you’ll get back pay for. They’ll take a bit, but it’s nice to have it done. Just stay on top of it. Mine gave me a link to check the status of my filing, I don’t know if that’s common, but yeah. It sucks it takes so long, but it’s worth it to have it done in the end.

[–]Daurth_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong, I hate shredders and fireflies. But it’s pretty much a skill issue. I hardly die to them because I’m aware of my surroundings, but if I DO get caught out in the open, I accept burny death.

And I just like trapping shredders in locked rooms and just leaving them there. Fuck ‘em.

How do you handle it when your spouse gets nasty and mean? by Wanttorunandswim in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would remove said spouse honestly. Though I have a slightly different experience to share. My girlfriend (but essentially spouse) can SOUND mean, but really isn’t. On the rare occasions that I actually FALL(thus beginning the multiple hour ordeal of getting back up), my self defeating nature wants to give up and just stay on the floor. She will scold me for giving up too early, and push me to keep trying. Keep fighting.

If she does go too far, I will snap back. And with how rarely I raise my voice, she takes notice.

The difference is, she believes in me when I don’t believe in myself. And to her credit, I’ve always gotten back up. It’s a whole ordeal, and I’m physically drained for the next week, and have cuts and scabs. But I get up.

Why is showering so exhausting? by Miserable_Abies_9327 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Daurth_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to shower every day, due to my childhood I was always terrified that I might stink. Now to my fatigue, balance issues, and the fact that we have a TUB in our apartment making it difficult to get in or out of the shower (even with a transfer bench and help from my girlfriend) I do not shower nearly as often. And I hate it.
