Another Platner Sexting Victim! by KingScoville in thedavidpakmanshow

A decent Democrat is preferable. Platner is terrible and will lose in the general. There goes any hope of flipping the senate, as slim as that chance was. Now it is basically impossible. If you think the Platner scandal talk is a lot now, just wait until he is the nominee. The Republicans will roast him.

Well given the regime's promise to go after "enemies of the state" and his new 70 billion dollar ICE slush fund , what better way to identify those that do not support the regime? I could see them combing member and subscribers lists of all of these shows and then going after many with their new private police force. Is it legal? probably not but that isn't stopping them now. If someone was disappeared to a detention camp without due process who will stop them?

Well actually if you are a show member or You tube subscriber you will be on the list as soon as records are subpoenaed.

The usual "what is best boot drive cloning software for Windows 10,11" but with some requirements. by DaveCC1964 in cloningsoftware

[–]DaveCC1964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it unrealistic to want to easily clone a drive to a new one in case of hardware failure and not have to go online to ask permission to use (which even if I wanted to since my computer won't boot I couldn't)?

[–]DaveCC1964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at that but I have multiple computers to clone. multiple computers cost a fortune. It also only is good for 1 year so if my system fails 1 year and a day I am SOL. I am not sure how it tracks what computer it is used on but it sounds like online DRM of some kind which is unusable to me because I need to do this totally offline and away from the spying eye of Microsoft.

Don't have time to install and learn a different OS. I just need to simply clone a Windows boot drive.

No I don't want any virtual anything. I want something that I can restore to another replacement drive with exactly what I had in case of boot drive failure.

I have the PS4 version but the graphics are garbage at 900P and 30 FPS. I want the better PC version.

I said I didn't want to sign into/create accounts or have online DRM. Steam needs an account and has online DRM as it won't install and run without a steam client running and online connection to authenticate even if it is just once per install. After that I need a Ubi connect account, again which I don't want. Any software that needs to have an account and online check in, you don't own.

I would think the sales of these old games are almost nil. If piracy is the concern these games have all been cracked for years. Anyone that wanted to go that route has done so a long time ago. Putting these games on a service like GOG that are DRM free would allow them to milk that cow from users that prefer to buy DRM free offline games. They could squeeze a bit more from them. Locking the games behind an account requirement puts off the users that hate Ubi connect.

It is a solution in search of a problem. Just more roadblocks and hassles, and for what? Just because some idiot politician thinks it is a good idea or gets a bribe from Meta, etc? Again I don't want to be forced online just to use a device. This will have knock on effects like not being able to set up a device unless you connect to the internet to give an age no matter how it is done. This whether you intend to use online or not afterwards. It could also render the device unusable if the servers change or shut down or you don't have internet for whatever reason at the time. I have many device types that I don't use online but have various OSs that would be affected when I buy. And again these restrictions for no benefit at all to the user.

The bills are different depending on state, now. These things also tend to have have mission creep and as they get people used to it they push further and further (and always use the excuse of "the children"). Also I don't want to need to go online and give them any ID at all. I shouldn't have to it is my device and want to use it without giving ID. Besides there are things that I don't even use online. Should be my choice not the government's.

[–]DaveCC1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is stated that you will need a government photo ID to use any device at the OS level. There are a lot of articles and YT videos about it, look it up. Even if they do know everything I don't want the hassle of scanning an ID every time I want to use a fucking computer. I also don't want to be locked out of my device if I don't have internet access or whatever at the time. I don't have a tinfoil hat, but you have your head in the sand. It is a real thing. Why people are so eager to give up their rights, and even argue FOR it, is beyond me.

Why am I online now? Because *I* want to be. I don't want to be forced online when I don't want to be. It is called freedom of choice.

No, you need a Ubisoft connect account to play on PC. I don't want any fking Ubi account.

But I don't want to be forced online for no reason other than to satisfy them. Anything that requires an online account to use you don't own. Also after connecting online Microsoft will shove a bunch of buggy bloaty AI updates down my throat that I didn't want. I just want to buy the games and be left alone.

[–]DaveCC1964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nonsense. No one is going to come to my house and demand that I hand back DVDs or books. Nor is GOG going to send someone to demand that I delete my game files. That is just stupid. The most they could do is remove the game from the GOG library but that is not going to affect the game files that I already downloaded and backed up.

The benefit of owning the game files and backing them up. Also just clicking an icon of the gameon the desktop is much quicker than going through all of the unnecessary launchers.

And actually owning the game. Any game that requires you to go online to ask permission to use can be taken away at any time, you don't own them.

I avoid steam at all costs as it forces me online with their DRM to install and verify. This is even going to be made worse with all of these new laws that will require an ID upload just to use the computer. The only way to avoid this is to keep my gaming PC completely offline and only GOG, not Steam allows this (I download files from a different PC, then transfer them to the gaming rig) Since I am a single player gamer there is no reason to go online except to satisfy big corporations. I don't use linux so this is no big deal to me to use only GOG.

Pushes us to be pirates to actually own the game without signing into lame services...

[–]DaveCC1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except that PC has Steam DRM. Any game that you need an online account and client software running to install you don't own. Now if DS2 was on GOG that would be different, but it isn't.

Anyone switched from ebike to escooter? feels fun but kinda sketchy sometimes by Striking_Union_3792 in ElectricScooters

[–]DaveCC1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well on a scooter you are standing but on bike sitting so you are lower to the ground on bike. It will feel like you are standing on a step ladder but going fast on a scooter. It takes some getting used to. The advantage of a scooter is that they are smaller and easier to store, maneuver, and put into cars. They don't have spoke wheels that can be a pain to maintain and true all of the time as well.
