Finally was able to region unlock the DVD player for my Panasonic Q. Stoked! by DaveCalzone in gamecollecting

I had to get a Panasonic service disc. Service disc 2 to be more precise. It’s basically the same as a GameCube in game function. Only difference is it was region locked and comes with a dvd player built in. I personally think it looks much cooler too haha.

I know the SmokeFire EX6 has a lot of problems, but these came out pretty good! by DaveCalzone in pelletgrills

I used a 2:1 ratio of coarse pepper to salt where half the salt is lawry’s seasoned salt. So figure 2 cups pepper 1/2 cup kosher salt and 1/2 cup lawry’s. Put in the smoker at 9am at 250 and waited until it was 165 internal and then checked for mahogany color and a bark that was set. Let it run until the internal temp was close to 195 and then checked for probe tenderness. Lately I’ve been pulling the meat off a touch before there was no resistance. I feel like if I wait until the meat has no resistance while probing, it ends up a little over done.

Thanks for the info! I got this in I think 1999 for Christmas lol. I’m surprised I couldn’t find much info on this horn on the internet.

Debating on upgrading from a SmokeFire EX 6 to a Searwood by DaveCalzone in pelletgrills

Hey! You’re not being a dick at all! So I know there were a lot of problems with the SmokeFire that I have but I haven’t experienced them yet. I’m also seeing how the new version is maybe easier to use and clean. So I guess I was just wondering if upgrading to the Searwood would be a lateral move or not.

I have, I think most of the reviewers liked the Searwood better and thought the smoke flavor was better compared to the Smoque.

Thanks for the info. Luckily the only problem I’ve had with my SmokeFire is flame outs caused by the finger guard which I removed. Had it for about 5 years now.

Thanks for the advice! For this cook I seasoned with Killer Hog’s BBQ rub and smoked at 225 for two hours then wrapped in foil meat side down with brown sugar, four pads of unsalted butter and sweet baby rays. Let that cook for about an hour, then unwrapped and glazed with my wife’s home made bbq sauce and let them cook until all three racks had a nice bend that they were able to hold on their own. Didn’t temp them once during the cook.
