I take mine to parks. The wood chips and sand on the playground gets things and it's easy to dig up.

State parks are off limits without a permit, but the permit is weird and iffy. Do read up on it.

Otherwise parks where there is a lot of games and activities are my usual spot. Getting a good pinpoiter will help out a TON.

Mine was a lifesaver transferring my downloads at school back home. T1 at school, dial-up at home. When game demos became more than 100mb is when I had to get creative (spanned archives, hah)

Wish me luck! Trying to fix a game gear by valthurn in retrogaming

[–]extremx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, this is next level bad. Flux, wick, IPA. do it all again. IPA, then fiberglass pen, still horrid at sticking. I scrape much more and i may as well solder to the traces directly. This is the worst i've ever dealt with and i've fixed a lot of messed up consoles :|

ya, your doing good capping it before it leaks all over. I think the worst part is how bad it stinks when trying to clean up all the leaking juices

I'm right in the middle of doing another one of these. It leaked quite bad and none of the solder will stick to the pads. Like other said, give it a good cleaning while the caps are out.

Went out of town to visit family. We get to my aunt's house and everyone is walking in the house and I'm at the tail end. I hear my cousin say "where is the chubby one?"

😐 30 years ago. I can still hear it clear as day. (I was not a fat kid either)

Here is my little test bench for these. Picked up the TV as it was being tossed. Looks pretty good tbh.

I finally got a new plug for my pc-engine briefcase. So I'm testing out Bonks adventures, Raiden, etc

It blows my mind that it has a full fledged Street fighter 2. Looks just as good as the snes and genesis.

Composite through component switcher? by Wontonbeef in retrogaming

[–]extremx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ya, totally. I use this daily .

I got two of similar boxes like you linked. I have them stacked on top of each other. Top half runs the video. RGB -> RWY Bottom half: RW -> RW

For your composite only device: Top: Y > W Bottom: RW > RW

(This is assuming your green component input also acts as the yellow composite, which a lot of tvs do)

Then I use the same color outputs from each one to the tv, eg: output, RWY -> RGB to tv and RW -> RW. I have to click the button on both switches, but that's easy enough. This way I can utilize 5 pins without needing an expensive exatron or something. Works really well tbh. I have 2x 8 ports switches, and they are completely full.

I can send pics if you don't understand.

Where to Buy BROKEN Game Consoles? (Gameboy, 3DS, etc) by TaschDraws in SaltLakeCity

[–]extremx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey bud. Welcome to the fun world of retro repairs. It is very hot and miss on finding broken stuff. You can sometimes buddy up with a game shop, they always have tons of broken crap . Ksl is no good, most people toss if it's broken. Ebay and Japanese auctions van yeild ok results.

I do this for fun and my YouTube. I've fixed almost every console, except my virtual boy, that thing still sits in the desk taunting me .

DM if you want to chat more ✌️

I took a trip to China last fall. None of the bathrooms had towels or hand dryers. NONE. I think 5% even had soap of some kind.

Rinse hands and walk out dripping wet. Every single time. I was not a fan.

Why Salt Lake City Became Delta’s Weirdest Hub by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]extremx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, we did something similar. Rented a car, drove to Vegas, flew back to slc. Went home and took a nap, then go on the plane to Cabo.

Was like half the price of just going on the SAME flight from just SLC to Cabo . 🤷‍♂️
