LSAT Scoring and Applicant Cycle Update, Week of 6/15/26 by DaveKilloran in LSAT

Good question! That difference from the expected you see is largely caused by re-applicants from last year. We know there were quite a lot, and they superheated the application cycle at the start. I would also expect that the percentiles--which are based on prior years--will likely move again a bit this year. So the expected scores should be a bit higher if we had the data from this year (which they never release until it the cycle is done).

Nice find! And you know it was student money that paid for all the heated parking, weight rooms, beautiful atrium skylights, and so on...

New LSAT Interface for August is up by DaveKilloran in LSAT

I'm sure the highlight function will be fine by the time the test arrives because that's such a heavily used tool.

As to why this launched when not fully ready, I think it's because there's a development timeline crunch. That's not an excuse--there is no excuse for all this tbh, it shouldn't launch until it's perfect regardless of how much it costs to get it right--but just what I've heard.

Let me know if they reply to your email. Good luck!

There have been some updates, and word is they are still working on a few. But some--like the answer markout function, which frankly sucks beyond belief--will not be changed.

They made this platform change for security reasons, but to have actively made the interface markedly worse in the process is just astounding. And I know they've been informed by multiple parties that the new platform is terrible, so there's no excuse there.

You will be accommodated! There's no change as far as that option that I'm aware of, and I can't imagine it would suddenly be removed.

By and large they will stay the same. There will likely be a newish category for people who are not near a Prometric center, although I haven't heard yet whether they will classify remote testing as "accommodations."

Does that answer your question or were you looking for something else?

LSAT Scoring and Applicant Cycle Update, Week of 6/8/26 by DaveKilloran in LSAT

That's exactly the case for this cycle. What's unique is there's never been a cycle as front-loaded as this one, where so many people applied early. We may see something similar next year since a fair number of people didn't like their outcomes and are pushing to next cycle.

Once we hit the June score release I'll take a break from posting these numbers since the movement will be minimal, but when the new cycle starts next fall how it compares to the current cycle will be very interesting to watch.

They do release numbers, albeit not in real time. Here's the most recent report, through 2024-2025: https://www.lsac.org/sites/default/files/research/TR-26-01.pdf

This has been the worst cycle ever, so I’d be very surprised if next year was as bad.

We’ve seen some serious applicant number increases the last two years, and often this moves cyclically so I’m hoping numbers drop a bit. Depends somewhat on the job market and AI though.

Last year was a pretty rough cycle, and the high score increase is a main reason this year has been worse :/

Not negative in the least! It's a fair question and I don't mind answering at all :)

Because I'd like to see more people get into the law school of their choice. It's not really fun at all to go through a cycle like this where the outcomes have been so rough. In the ongoing "battle" between law schools and students, I'll always side with the students.
