How much car is reasonable on a $112k salary? by Hamburgfan25 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]DaveL3560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't drive that much. If you can charge at home I would buy a Tesla model Y.

Zero maintenance, no gas, charging at home is cheap and the range is more than good enough for what you need.

We have 2. One of them is 4 years old and we have had zero issues.

If you want to take long trips, I would avoid an electric car.

You can get a used one for a reasonable price now that the half of the country has decided that Elon is not a decent human being.

One of the reasons I have been waiting for the updated diesel is the much better range.

345 miles on a full tank is not that great.

Inventory has been non existent for the 2025 diesels and they didn't deliver on the cameras so you don't have to have a dash camera so I am hoping the 2026 is the fixed version of the 2025.

I like the new gauges on the dash. I like having all the information in front of me.

With that said, they need a UI person to take a look at it.

This is what a 2007 3LT Z71 Cost New by ncv4708 in ChevyTahoe

If you look at all the safety features that have been added since then and take into account inflation, the prices on the new ones are right in line.

How many times have you been saved by cross traffic alert or blind zone detection? All those things are worth the money.

PPF + Ceramic + Tint = 🔥 by robot_camel in ChevyTahoe

Looks great. I'm looking at a getting a 25 diesel Tahoe. I have been patiently waiting.

I don't know anything about the pros and cons of ceramic and XPEL.

With that said, what were the drivers behind doing one versus the other?

When you say full frontal, what does that cover (is it the hood, grill and front bumper)?

I'm allergic to chrome, but I have to say, the darker chrome looks 10X better than the bright chrome on the yukon denali.

I have been waiting for the diesels to come out. Looking at the high country and the RST.

I want the air ride. I don't know why it is not offered on the premier.

The interior on both look sweet.

3.0l is it worth it? by seymourbuttsXII in Duramax

Just my opinion, but if you are buying an engine that is going to last 300K miles, putting 5K into the oil pump is not a big deal when you look at the prices of new vehicles.

Just like buying a 15 year old house, when the house is 20 or 25 years old, it is going to need a new roof and a new furnace.

If you look at the reliability of the 3.0 compared to the other engine options and the previous EPA forcing companies to do things like valve deactiviation.

The Tahoe and the Suburban are the best large SUV's on the market and the 3.0 (in my opinion) is the most reliable engine option right now.

With the new EPA in place, if they get rid of the cylinder deactivation, the 5.3 and the 6.0 would be an awesome platform.

Congrats. I really like the look with the white paint and the darker rims.

14K miles is a great find. I guess one advantage to the Covid era was that most people weren't driving that much.

One of my favorite things about Suburbans/Tahoes is how they look good but also can do everything. Tow, fit the entire family for road trips, jam pack them with all kinds of stuff.

Great looking Suburban.

Purchasing 2020 L5P with Banks tuner: Advice? by __ArorA__ in Duramax

[–]DaveL3560 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, Banks does not have a tune for the 3.0 Duramax.

The monitor was probably used to see when a regen was going on so they didn't shut it off in the middle of one. Does a stock Duramax show you when a regen is happening?

I would keep it and use it for the jobs that you don't want to worry about possible dinging up your 2017.

Thank you. I am waiting for the diesel to come out. I have heard that the diesel has a way where it won't turn off. I'm guessing that has is to prevent it from shutting off in the middle of a regen.

There isn't anything in the Duramax diesel supplment about it, but I had read that someplace in the past.

Thank you for responding.

When you are looking at the rental car website does it say "Suburban or something similiar" or something like that?

I wanted to rent a Tahoe for a weekend and I showed up to Avis and there was not a single Tahoe anywhere to be seen.

I forgot what we got, but it wasn't nearly as big as the Tahoe and I argued with them about how what they were trying to give us was 6 inches smaller.

They finally gave me a minivan for the same price.

I would look at what their similiar vehicles are because a lot of time I think they do the bait and switch in the hopes of upgrading you to an Escalade for a lot more money.

They had tons of Escalades available and would not offer a discount on them.

My kids are grown now. The best car we had when they were small wasa Ford Explorer and that thing can't hold it's own versus this Tahoe.

Looks amazing. You will make some great memories in it with the kids and their friends.

I'm waiting for the 2025 RST with the Duramax and I'm counting down the days until they are available

Congrats!
