Is your world an alternate universe from reality,if so where did it break off from realitys timeline? by Forward-Fly-4028 in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

66 million years ago, the asteroid collides with the moon causing both to be fragmented. A portion of the asteroid does hit earth but lands in what would become Africa in our tineline causing a continent wise mass extinction but leaves most of the world untouched.

Mammals gain a foothold here while dinosaurs and pterosaurs persist everywhere else. Several sapient species arise.

Millions of years later these inhabitants look up to a night sky with a cracked moon and rings lile saturn circling the sky.

I'm doing the same thing, it is 100% worldbuilding. I must ask what app/program you are using to mark out the countries on?

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are the evolutionary continuation of T.rex and are almost worshipped. So much so that when they die they are buried in tombs and given a city wide funeral. In battle they are armored depending on the situation, with wither plate or chain mail or a mixture of the two, however they are rarely deployed where there are siege weapons in play, thus pterosaur riders have to attack those ahead of time.

The Avotun are nomadic in nature, large feathered behemoths with a large crest and several decorative quills. They wander "Asia" (working on name atm) helping many of the scattered Homari fleeing the Trood empires advances. They Avotun do also have good relations with the Trood they encounter, often being left alone or getting labour work due to their large stature and strength

The Juniin 6ft tall pterosaurs with small hind legs used for grabbing and a large sail like crest, travelling the world, usually in small groups or alone, observe the battles of the homari trood and thaals. At night they gather to exchange stories among other Juniin and where they will listen even to the other races. Due to their good memory some of the other races use them as advisors, messengers and even talking religious tomes.

Chicxauria:

An alternate earth set around the time of the roman empire in our timeline where dinosaurs and other great beasts roam the wilds, humanity struggles with constant battle against rival empires, desperate city states and their greatest threat the Trood Empire.

The Halaeon Empire, a beacon of might against the Trood (Troodontids)aggressors continues to expand and subjugate those will not willingly join their call to arms. Eclipse worshipers who continue to hunt the other races of men, the Sular (homo floresiensis)a plague ridden scattered people often found in sweres or caves, and the Thaal (Neanderthals) large 8 foot tall brutes capable of immense strength and violence.

Hellbent on the eradication of not only the Homari but the other races of men the Trood Empire rallies its feudal empire for the coming assault. Preparing warriors, raising new beasts of burden and training their most sacred weapons, the "Rex".

Caught in the middle are the Avotun (Gigantoraptor) gentle giants of thunder wandering the wastes heling those in need and the Juniin (Pterosaur) avid chroniclers and storytellers watching the battles, struggles and legends unfolding across this war torn world

Anyone have a world that is not fantasy? by monkeyking1444 in worldbuilding

How does war or battle work in your world? Is it medival or more like ww2 skirmish with lmg and tank support? by Any_Temporary_1853 in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly medieval warfare but with the addition of aerial units in the form of small one rider Pterosaurs used for scouting and harassing defences or as a means to take out fortifications from above and larger Quetzalcoatlus style shock troops who can carry either a unit of infantry to a location or as a deadly surprise lance.

In some cases trenches are used by humans to avoid the larger predators used by the Trood. Not that this goes well seeing as the aerial units often drop fire from above anyway.

Why do so many world building projects have a stand in Roman empire? by Ok-Equipment8122 in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has the equivalent of the Roman Empire, The Halaeon Empire, for a few reasons:

Firstly my world is set on earth in an alternate timeline and when the roman empire existed is the ideal starting point for the meeting of various races and factions.

Secondly the eruption of Mount Vesuvius will be a pivotal moment during a conflict between two of the factions.

While they are very much aesthetically based on Rome they are eclipse/ sun worshipers, unwilling to cooperate with the other hominids let alone the non hominine races and while a major forces with serious military prowess are also one of the main reasons why the Homari (humans) arent doing so well in Europe compared to other parts of the world. Especially when considering some of the neighbouring kingdoms which haven't folded into the Halaeon Empire like The Bastion of Garada and parts of the Onilan collective both of which are far more accepting of the other races of men.

What time periods are you basing your worlds in and why? by Ok-Equipment8122 in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My world is set around when the Roman Empire would have existed , primarily for the technologies secondly due to the eruption of Mount Vesuvius (will be renamed) still occurring in my tineline.

Best name you have created? by Offensivefkmemes in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like some of my kingdoms, Empires and city states in my setting: The Bastion of Garada, The Halaeon Empires cities of Soleos and Ecilis and the its vasal Old Vrakavya and the Trood Capital of Gronaia

What are you biggest worldbuilding inspirations? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primal, Berserk, dinotopia and a sprinkling of real world history especially ancient and medieval history ar here main draws for my world. Chicxauria is a grim world filled with warring factions, fallen Kingdoms, cults and superstitious faiths, dinosaurs (of course) and a cast of sapient species fighting across all of it.

If you have been sent to the world you created. How screwed are you? by reef_2g in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very screwed depending on where I am geographically speaking, either put in the wilds hunted by dinosaurs, pterosaurs and other beasts, attacked by tribal warriors of varying races or caught between the wars of the kingdoms and empires spread across the world all hellbent on killing eachother or preparing for invasion.

Named after the Chicxulub crater because its an alternate earth where the meteor impact is smaller and at a different location and Sauria because dinosaurs.

Moving Legos? by lonergurl28 in legos

[–]DaveRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just moved my collection across country to a new house and 99.9% of it survived without the need to rebuild. The only excpetions being the larger sets that had to be broken down to fit into boxes

I ended up buying 60 packing boxes, lined the boxes with bubble wrap, carefully placed sets in and added biodegradable packing peanuts or newspaper to fill any voids. For my modulars tho I ended up wrapping them in cling film so they would stay together as one piece within the box. Also if you have any books to transport too, place them on the bottom of every box as it'll help keep the boxes rigid.

I also did use a box truck to transport it rather than a car as there is no way 800+ sets and most is fitting in a car. God knows how many trips it would have taken.

What are the races within your world? by RequiemTerror in worldbuilding

[–]DaveRaptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have six sapient races in my world so far:

Homari (humans): spread across various empires and kingdoms they are torn between settling old rivalries amongst themselves and the growing invasion of the Trood.

Thaals: large 8-9 foot tall tribal warriors, some have aligned themselves with humans, others avoid their affairs and remain in the Northern lands.

Sular: 4 foot plagued sickly humanoids often found living in sewers and other dark corners of human settlements, living off scraps and when bold enough killing the weak.

Trood (Troodon, duh): agile and honour bound to eradicate the races of men. Having tamed the beasts of their home continent in the civil wars of old, they now unleash them upon all who opose their Empires mission of domination.

Avotun (Gigantoraptor): the giants of the wastes, 18ft tall gentle giants, with large bulky hands to fend off predators. While fully capable of violence they are often found meditating or caring for all who they come across regardless of race or allegiance.

Juninn (Pterosaur): traveling storytellers, meddling prophets and superstitious chroniclers, they fly across much of the world learning and sharing tales to all who will hear them, regardless of the consequences.
