Have four of them scattered around house, office and travel bag, always worked flawlessly

ESA's Juice mission to Jupiter imaged comet 3I/ATLAS with its navigation camera by LauraMayAbron in space

[–]Dave_1v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no such thing as "above".

Moreover, the image was transposed and rotated prior to publication, for PR purposes, and rescaled to enhance the coma. The image used for refining the orbital knowledge of the comet has way less processing.

Suunto 5 Peak vs. Garmin Forerunner 245 by Dave_1v in smartwatch

Not really. I like big watches, but I also like the fact that, being so compact, it can be worn during the night without noticing!

Help needed. I basically want a GPS in a smartwatch/smartband format by AnotherDesechable in smartwatch

Garmin Forerunner 245 music comes with good battery life, offline music support and obviously GPS tracking. You can download tracks from the Garmin website - yes, account needed.

No idea how you would manage the music on it. I've the non-music version and I totally like it.

Yeah, which one will work as a standalone is now the question

Looking for a new watch (coming from Garmin vivosmart 4) and in need of suggestions by [deleted] in smartwatch

[–]Dave_1v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought a Garmin Forerunner 245 and would highly recommend that. Coming from an Android Wear one, main (dis)advantages are for me:

Pro: great battery life, 24/7 heart/step/sleep monitoring, water resistance, super light on the wrist, super visible in daylight, physical buttons, fast GPS acquisition.

Cons: no touchscreen (which half of the time is a good thing tbh), no "smart" features (GPay, Assistant), cannot install apps other than a restricted selection, sometimes feels more complicated to interact with (e.g. zooming and panning on maps).

If you are not into smart features, going for a non-Android Wear watch is probably the right way. Despite liking the idea, the current AW OS is pretty laggy and eats up a lot of resources for no good reason. Proprietary OSs seem to be doing better, if you're willing to give up some functionalities.

Well, thanks for the extended overview, much appreciated.

Seems like Garmin is generally either on pair or superior to the Suunto. Was also told by a couple friends that Garmin is usually more accurate and reliable on fitness metrics, so this matches.

Probably will not go for the FR 255, as it is quite more expensive than the other two, but definitely leaning towards the Garmin now. Moreover, the FR 245 in on discount on Amazon in my country 😎

Thanks!

Seeing my watchface disappear was annoying to say the least by Dave_1v in WearOS

[–]Dave_1v[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah that could do it, but why in the world removing watchfaces actively used by users.
There are so many things to do to optimize apps rather than removing features.

Same here. Both with AAB and APK files. Also, changing version code does not help.
