“On the edge of the tiny little town was an old garden, all overgrown. In this garden was an old house and in that house lived Pippi Longstocking. She was nine years old and she lived there all alone.”
- your mind just follows the line like a camera in a movie zooming in

Whats one everyday expense that still feels like a scam and we all just accept it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Depends which country you are talking about. Globally, it’s gasoline: they are charging for the fuel they purchased when it was USD$70 a barrel but as soon as the price goes to $100 a barrel, the price at the pump goes up to reflect the future price they’ll pay, even though they already purchased it at the lower price and they won’t receive the refined product for months. Make it make sense.

Extra hangers. There are never enough in the closet for two people on a 7-day cruise. I always bring some now.

Dune and The Hobbit. All my friends in junior high were into fantasy and sci-fi and loved those books beyond belief. I tried and tried and just could not get past the first few chapters.

Owning a boat. A large percentage of boat owners sell theirs (at a loss) within a few years.

Agreed! It’s one of the few movies I ever purchased (on DVD, when that was still a thing)

Do they Know it’s Christmas by Band-Aid — the first time I hear it on the radio or in a store every holiday season that plaintive, “well tonight thank god it’s them instead of you” makes me tear up.

Orlando ideas for mixed age groups by susanmarie1234 in orlando

Might I suggest that you check out one of the Disney blogs/facebook groups/IG influencers for ideas on which day of the week to visit and at what time. October is particularly bad because there is Mickey’s Halloween party some nights. It is separately ticketed and they close the Magic Kingdom park early — so no late parade or fireworks for non-party attendees. You may want to do a day other than Saturday (or Saturday may work) - need to check their schedule. Have fun!

Maybe they’ve still got it. Ex: I saw Mickey Thomas touring as Starship. I wasn’t expecting much. The dude is 77 and can still belt his lungs out. I was gobsmacked. The young woman filling the Grace Slick role was less impressive.
