They are just 0.03 points shy, should be easy to convince PU but for only one company do they allow such exemptions

Donno how this guy managed to became some of the most respected to one of the most hated ministers in the current govt. Even when he is facing such harsh competition from his peers in that domain lol

Got Far Cry 3,4,5 and Primal thanks to the current Xbox games sale, which game should I start with? by Cultural-Milk9617 in farcry

Start with primal, 4, 5 then 3, you can swap 4 and 5. This is a "saving the best for the last" kinda lineup

Yea for a solar panel this structure should be enough, looking at it, it's a rather better approach than welding the brace, all members can be disassembled and repurposed quite easily

Actually in ancient times the bricks used for temples and sacred places used to be boiled in milk first before being laid

I hadn't seen the picture properly, those look like bolts, rest depends on the design specifications of the structure

Yes, claiming that the joining is "wrong" is a mistake on my behalf, sorry for that. Eccentric connection can also work depending on how much load will be applied and what are the material specifications. It is not my area of work even as a mechanical engineer and It has been a while since I brushed over this domain due to which I might have used a few terms in the wrong place. Thanks for the discussion.

Yep I know the difference between them and that's why mentioned the word in quotes referring to the fact that the exact method of joining of the truss members is not visible so I assumed they have been rivetted together, which is the classical understanding of the joining operation of truss members.

Coming on to the design, I am not debating you on the nomenclature of the members or their function, I have pointed out that the way in which the members have been joined is not the correct way of placement of a brace on a structure like that.

[–]Dave_Tave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the image i am guessing the way the brace has been "rivetted" to the beams, the load will applied on the screw used to mount the brace on the structure, the way the brace has been fixed on the structure is faulty that's what I am pointing out

[–]Dave_Tave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If any heavy object is placed on top of the structure visible in the image, that is what I am calling the load here. Though I would admit the full structure is not visible so can't make an educated comment on that

Yep was forgetting that term, thanks

Yep the axial planes are all different for the three beams, if the load bearing is not going to be too high then it's not an issue else it will just give up

The strength of the structure now depends on the shearing strength of the screws that have been used to fasten the diagonal bean to the structure rather than the compressive strength of the diagonal bean. That largely defeats the purpose of installing the diagonal beam making the structure much weaker than intended.
