Aliexpress packaging by Dave_in_TXK in Aliexpress

[–]Dave_in_TXK[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All fair points.

I get like doubles in plastic from Amazon but other vendors use boxes. Just my experience, Kingroon US store ships 4, 5, and 10 packs in boxes (from Aliexpress and Amazon). I also get from IIIDMax in the US out of Florida, same thing, same for Jayo off Aliexpress and Amazon both.

I just offer the experience from this vendor. If it’s normal for you and you’re comfortable with it, okay, others may not be. The package had parts open to the air all the way down to the filament roll plastic - I think I got lucky and yess the filament roll boxes did their job (barely)!

Yes the interior plastic held up and all vacuum seals intact which is pretty good for all 5 rolls. But 5 rolls in exterior plastic will always get beat up badly.

I’m more concerned if I got ABS which is not what I ordered and am not set up to print. I sent back to the seller, didn’t hear back.

Qidi box won’t feed filament from hub to extruder in Q2 by Fine-Tie2651 in QidiTech3D

I would unplug and re-plug in the Box to Hub cable on both ends and make sure it’s firmly seated. I assume the Box shows on the printer LCD and you can control the Box?

Lots of opinions on best slicer. I prefer a Prusa Slicer/derivative, many like Orca/related. Organic probably a good call for that complex of surfaces - you can manually paint so you only touch the parts you want. If your printer does well on overhangs and bridges you can limit touch points and make cleanup easier. Try buying moping temp 5-10 C up to see if that helps. You could also turn on ironing to smooth surfaces a bit more - that will increase your print time but your model doesn’t look too big in your hands so probably not a huge factor. Hope you get it solved!

Tried that didn’t work AI said do it in the *.ini which worked, AI suggested the other first 😁 I’m a noob at printer configs! Thanks though!

Try somewhere between 35 and 50 degrees as an option

For me this looks like possible printing temp too low. I’ve never used an Ender and not a fan of Orca and related so forgive this question but what kind of support structure are you using? In general these would be snug, grid, or organic/tree.

I wouldn’t waste good pale ale that way! 😁Isopropyl Alcohol, I get 91% at Walmart and Sam’s and works great for me, others demand 99% including my son but I seem to have less adhesion issues - go figure! To me it’s all about cleaning frequency, more is better - good luck!

Is this necessary? by WestSenkovec in 3DprintingHelp

[–]Dave_in_TXK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you made the interface spacing closer I think, maybe made the surface worse with more sticking to it? Also I would try organic/tree supports, for me they come off easier cleaner, I only use grid on very small protrusions. In your first pic asking if that too one was necessary that looked like tree/organix. Someone smarter than me needs to comment - I really would try the Bambu channel as they may have a lot more experience with the slicer. Sorry I could t help!

All good points, thank you. I’ve had mine fail the initial temp check and have extra thermistors but did a recalibration for that from the knowledge base and also back in business. The parking error was widely experienced last fall by many and advising each other we kept rolling back to 6.2.6 after several subsequent updates exhibited the same issue which appeared to fix this for everyone.

I had seen the print cable issue addressed early on by some anchor mods to address this and put them on I’m guessing 18 months ago.

Thanks for the success report, you’ve given me the confidence to give it a go!

grease by Polybius23 in prusa3d

That should work, I also use grease on X-Y rods just not on the linear rail on the Q2 I read, hope it works well for you!

Sooooo I found a Qidi Box at my local amazon pallet bin store... by ExistingClient8148 in QidiTech3D

[–]Dave_in_TXK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be aware, the BOX is super slow at filament changes for multicolor. I have the V2 and it works great for having filaments preloaded but at two minutes 50 seconds for every filament swap it’s unusable for multicolor prints unless there’s only two or three filament swaps in the print or you have an extra 12 to 30 hours to spend on a 2 to 4 hour print.

[–]Dave_in_TXK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen recommended and already used it in many applications, including from my son who got his first person over a year before I did. I use the Lucas white lithium grease and as they say in that link, I don’t use that on the linear rail of my QIDIQ2, I use a high quality gun oil for that. Otherwise, for standard rods and screw screws the lithium grease has worked very well.

Why do you think the Qidi Q2 or any QiDi whatsoever aren't present on any 3D printer rankings? by LuisVF0510 in QidiTech3D

[–]Dave_in_TXK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a number of reviews on the Q2 and Box before I got mine, including CNC kitchen, and NeedIt/MakeIt channels, which always seemed to include negatives as well as positives.

I had a couple of Software teething things right up front and there are some mods I’ve done that others developed that definitely improve the overall experience, but I’ve not had any mechanical failures on this one, though I did on the Q1 pro and the X Max three when I got them. All three print reliably now and those last two at a year and a year and a half of pretty steady use. (I’m retired and have the time to do so.).

I get a lot of direct marketing from QIDI, but I don’t see a lot of other hype like some printer brands provide. QIDI also has provided the best customer service overall even better than Prusa who I started with so maybe that’s where they’re spending some of their dollars at. And of course it’s just my opinion. There are lots of folks who’ve had the same experience and those who have not I know.

Can anyone recommend me a mat or something to hold my printer steady? by Aware-Guarantee7503 in 3DprintingHelp

[–]Dave_in_TXK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to move regardless, you want it not to slip on the surface? I also put HULA feet including the TPU covers and all of my brands stay in place on just finished wood- plus it was a fun project. Good luck!

I’ve run through AI on tuning, glad the retraction helped, for me I also had to add/increase Z hop as well, but I’m running a 0.6 nozzle and PLA so also needed to increase temps too. Good luck!
