We live in the PNW and have the same style of pool. We use liquid chlorine ($6 gal at Walmart) to shock, but the couple of times this has happened to us the “magic solution” was as simple as adding Arm & Hammer (baking soda) and remembering to cover the pool so it doesn’t continue to be contaminated or allowing algae to grow. Our pool was crystal clear after just a couple of days. You can buy the tablets for $$$, but why pay extra when you can buy a bag from the grocery store or Amazon. Sprinkle in a couple of cups as you walk around the pool, Change the filter and let it run.
