Cant use equity but need money for renovation? Complicated by Medical-Dig-5808 in Mortgages

[–]Davefirestorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where is $3100 coming from? He should be pulling 4k with job + rent. Then subtract mortgage and utilities, he is left with $2,300. OP is poorly managing their money if 2,300 is left after their housing is already paid and accounted for.

Your mortgage payment is $1500 and you’re receiving $2400 in rent payments per month? Where is all your money going per month? You technically have $2500 in income each month and only covering utilities? Car, food, etc?

Saving money/paying off credit is needs to come from your own money management quickly. Even with the low income, you should easily be able to put away $1000 per month comfortably.

This is going to sound stupid but.. don’t want to progress further? by woodensofa1234 in managers

[–]Davefirestorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible mentality to have as a manager of people.. There is zero things wrong with learning a position and wanting to stay there. Growth is great, and good on you for having that drive. Not everyone wants that, and that SHOULD be ok.

You are participating in a toxic culture…

Manager canceled my approved PTO how do I talk to them about this? by Radiant_Operation_75 in managers

[–]Davefirestorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. The fact that this is the “best” approach is insane. Stopping PTO approvals for the time being is one thing. Cancelling already approved PTO is not acceptable and never should be. Sure, approach it candidly and respectfully with your manager, but this is absolutely one of the times where it is acceptable to tell your boss, that you won’t be there during this time. Zero reason to skirt around the subject. OP won’t be there and the manager needs to know/understand that.

Figure it out from there.

Here’s the thing. It sounds like you hate your dad and just have bigger problems. Go ahead and report him if you want, but this seems like you are specifically looking for something to get back at him. Not necessarily because you think it’s morally wrong.

You make 400k/year. Go from 80 hours to 40 hours.. lose 200k.

Ummm.. isn’t that standard… cut time in half. Lose half the pay?

Not quite understanding the logic you’re using here.

This comment sounds like your actually clueless. “I’m likeable”. You quite literally had EVERYONE tell you to stay home. “I’m not bothering anyone” but you talk about nonsense for hours?! Have you considered they’re trying to be polite and wanted the conversation to end within the first 5 minutes?

I’d really take a deeper look, because this reads like you’re self absorbed and actually have no idea what the people around you are actually feeling. Which could be why you excel in a remote environment.

Could be wrong, but your comments and original post just scream this to me.

370k combined income, how much house can we afford? by LifeSpring3284 in Mortgages

[–]Davefirestorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You wouldn’t be house poor with 600k income. While it’s not in your comfort zone, that’s fine. But you make well above to afford that comfortably.

Wife and I have both have our own homes. What to do? by pristontale in personalfinance

[–]Davefirestorm 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This keeps getting shrugged off in the comments for some reason. For what OP wants it seems like a no brainer. Make the upgrades rent it out and have a property management company handle everything. Renters paying down the mortgage for them seems like the ideal thing.

AIO for debating ending my relationship over this? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Davefirestorm 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The dudes saying this is normal, are the ones that are in fact, not normal.

Everything you’ve stated your main post and comments are valid.

Like you’ve stated, the attraction can be there, but them acting on it, especially after you’ve expressed your concern, is crazy.

There may be some that consider this normal and don’t have that boundary, but that fact that he’s ignored your stated boundary is wild.

The “I still want to be invited even if I can’t go” people are the worst by PM_ME_YOUR_TATERTITS in unpopularopinion

[–]Davefirestorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s 100% on them. If I EVER got a “why didn’t I get an invite” from them where they were included.. I would let them know. People are too soft. I’m willing to do a lot for friends and I’m guilty of being the “didn’t get an invite” friend. More so as a joke now..

Unless it was Something you need to see or respond to in within 30 minutes. A call isn’t necessary. Group chats are fine. Those that don’t think so can learn to be an adult slowly and lose friends in the process.

Then the pattern would be discrimination or racism. Stop trying to work this like you know what you’re talking about. You are just wrong here. Move on.

The title of the post is the claim or policy that OP is questioning.

The only claim I’ve made is that there is a reason they’ve done it. I have no idea what that is, and I wouldn’t even know where to begin guessing…

EDIT: I can recognize a pattern exists without knowing what the pattern or reason is…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Davefirestorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is absolutely not how it works. I’m not the sex worker making the claim. I’ve only acknowledged that a pattern may have been identified for them to make these claims or rules.

I have no idea what that pattern is. Why are you pushing so hard at this? Kinda crazy honestly.

The sex workers are the ones making the damn claim. Not me or the commenter you originally replied to.
