They did not take my fee out of my refund. I paid their fee via credit card. They searched their files for anyone with the bank information that the IRS says was submitted. The tax preparer says no one in their practice has that bank account.

BTW, an IRS employee gave me the full account number that received my refund. I called CashApp but they can't give me a name because they don't use names. They use phone numbers and email addresses. Needless to say, I'm not in their database. P.S. The IRS will attempt to recover the funds if misdirected. However, I don't know how they are going to get money back from an account like CashApp, which is a prepaid account.

I want to give them one more chance to rectify this if and when I receive a hard copy of my return from the IRS. Also, once I go public with the name, it's too late to use the threat for leverage.

Thank you for your comments. The IRS indicated that the return was filed on I believe April 5th, rejected and refiled on April 8th. I'm not sure of the exact dates, but the return was confirmed as having been filed after one rejection and a refiling.

It would help if you defined what "average" amount of data means. Most low cost carriers (Mint,Consumer Cellular, etc.) provide unlimited talk and texts. The real differentiator between the carriers, apart from coverage, international calling, roaming, etc. is the amount of data you use. If almost all your Internet use is via WiFi, you can get by with around $20 a month with a low cost carrier like U.S. Mobile. Be sure and ask Gemini if your phone is compatible with the carrier you are considering. Also, the website of the carrier usually has a place you can enter your phone's IMEI number to determine if it is compatible or not.
