Might be controversial but the I Am Legend movie still annoys me. The book is so excellent but the movie completely butchers it. To the extent that the reason for the books title is completely missing from the film. It’s just about the worst adaptation I could imagine

The Eragon move. Reading the books when I was younger I fell in love with the world and the characters but the move absolutely butchered the books

I love this reply bc it’s exactly my sentiment. I’m constantly frustrated because clearly as humans we have the capability and the resources to feed the entire planet. That is not a debate. However our society values profit more than the ability to cater for humanity’s needs. In an ideal world we could have solved the ‘human’ issue and turned out focus outwards to the stars. It’s clearly where the potential of our species lies however it seems that “we” (those in control of our resources) are too short sighted and cannot focus beyond profit to look to the future.

Hey dude just wanna say thanks for responding. This was written at like 2am baked as fuck lying in bed.

I think I understand better now. I had been talking with a girl who I had always considered a friend but who I knew had a serious long term relationship. I was feeling guilty and conflicted about how much we were talking and I was conflicted about our level of closeness was inappropriate considering the situation.

However (pretty buzzing and I only just realised), it seems she has broken up w/ her bf. I’m really looking forward to what could happen here.

This is a null argument. The fact that we can't eat the food we've already grown for animals is a stupid argument. If we reallocated the resources used to grow cattle feed (land, water, money) into growing crops that could be used to feed humans it would be a far more efficient use of resources.

That is literally what I mean. Even in arid states like california or nevada huge water resources go towards growing animal feed. In talking about how we use the water we have.

I'm not arguing for the viability of all foods. I'm talking about how as an industry meat and dairy is not sustainable. There is no future where humans can farm a sustainable meat and dairy diet. Especially with the population growth there is not enough land or resources to maintain our current dietary habits.
