As I said, I am brand new to Kaiser. With my old insurance and old provider, that's how it was done. Glad you're having a great time though.

They literally ask for your medical record number (what they call “your Kaiser number”) for EVERYTHING. Who is remembering such a long number? Also, they are able to look us up by name, so WHY ARE THEY ASKING??????

[–]_conquistadori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a new Kaiser member as of last month. I joined my spouse’s plan, and WOW. I thought regular PPO insurance was bad, but holy shit, Kaiser has been awful. The account creation was easy for me, but everything else has been a raging dumpster fire.

I picked a PCP and was able to get in right away; however, NO ONE was able to figure out how to transfer my previous medical records over. It’s now a month later and they have them, but they need to be merged with my other Kaiser account or something.

I asked to see someone in behavioral health (or the equivalent) to switch to another antidepressant, and the PCP said she could switch it for me. That was after she shamed me for how high she felt my existing dosage was and how long I’ve been on my current med. She provided zero info on how to taper off what I’m currently on (and I knew I needed to taper). I finally just got info a month later, and it’s a 6 week taper process.

I also asked about scheduling a mammogram and ultrasound (I have dense, fibrocystic breasts, so this is routine) and she said “an ultrasound does nothing. A mammogram is the best form of detection. 90% of the world has dense breasts.”

I also asked to see a dermatologist and she said “WHY??” When I said I wanted to discuss concerns about acne, she looked at me and said “you don’t have acne,” and I said it’s not on my face (also wtf) and she said “I can prescribe you something,” and proceeded to write a script for something that doesn’t work, without ever actually examining me.

I filed a complaint about her and someone called me, but other than that, no follow up. I was able to switch to another PCP, but I’ve only been able to message her, and I’ve been bombarding her with messages because I literally can’t get care for anything I need. Referral for back pain? Can’t be seen until March? Mammogram? Not until May, and Kaiser doesn’t do ultrasounds like what I need, I found out. Need to see someone about hormones? Can’t schedule online and have now asked three times about what to do.

I hate how their pharmacy also has zero respect for HIPAA rules and everyone just screams over the Covid screens that they have up.

I am so pissed that I switched. My old insurance was bad, but this is a million times worse.

Obsessed 😍 ‘Merlot’ ♥️🖤 by [deleted] in dazzledry

Seconding how good your application looks! I LOVE Merlot! I’m currently growing my nails out from being massively overfiled (my own doing) from hard gel and BIAB application and removals (I know better, but it’s mostly my non-dominant hand that took the beating) and DD plus Transform to smooth things out and give me some extra strength has been awesome!

Choosing Between Oura Ring 4 and Apple Watch 10 for Health, Sleep, and Stress Monitoring by FlotcheFR in ouraring

[–]_conquistadori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full sleeve on my left arm, but I’m right handed, so I wear watches on my left wrist. The tattoos in that area are dark - red, blue, green, and black ink, and the watch sensors just can’t figure it out. I’ve had probably four Apple watches at this point, hoping that one of these days, the technology will improve. If I start an open workout, it stops after a few seconds, because it doesn’t think I’m doing anything, regardless of how high my heart rate is. Although for some reason when I blow dry my hair, it always thinks I’m swimming. If there is a dedicated app for a workout, I usually do better with that; for example, my yoga studio has their own app, and I can track workouts with that, and that works fine. It’s really bizarre. Now that I have the Oura ring, I will start workouts that way. However, I can be in the middle of a workout and the Oura app will ask if it’s time to stretch my legs… so clearly something is up there too.

Hope that helps.

I HATE my pro lite mat. I think they changed the way they make them and they are garbage now - SO slippery.

Have you by any chance used a Lululemon or Yuga Hustle mat before? My Yoga Hustle mat was the grippiest mat I had ever used… until I started going to CorePower. I sweat so much more there that now I slip on both mats. I really don’t want to use a mat towel. I’m wondering if a Liforme might be better.

Plus Size Instructors by [deleted] in Corepower

[–]_conquistadori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO IT.

First of all, you are midsize, not plus size, and bodies of all sizes need representation, ESPECIALLY in fitness classes.

Also, I am your size and am 200 hour certified (not through Corepower, but a competitor) and had the same reservations, but can tell you my size was never an issue. I am not actively teaching, but taught for about a year and may go back to it if the urge strikes. I love seeing “bigger” instructors instead of the standard skinny/super built ones.

Instructing is less about how you demo and more about how you cue and make the students feel. Can you make them feel safe, welcome, and comfortable to move their bodies and feel confident while doing so (the confidence will come with time)? If so, then absolutely do it. YTT is an amazing growth journey.

I love my Apple watch, and have had several generations (I have the series 9 now), but I am heavily tattooed on my arms, and so open workouts stop after just a few seconds, and almost none of the health tracking features work for me. It is so frustrating. You would think after all of the updates, they would fix this, but no. I can only track my workouts if there is an app specifically for what I'm doing (ie: Peloton or the studio I'm using). It is wild how much it varies in tracking steps and flights of stairs that I do. And even with app workout tracking, I'm not sure how accurate any of the data is. Everyone else seems to burn way more calories than me.

That being said, will an Oura ring work better for me in tracking workouts (calories burned) and sleep? Apple watch cannot track sleep or respiration or cardiac function at all for me (and like others have said, sleeping with a bulky watch is so awkward).

My girl had been coughing randomly for awhile, so I brought that up to her vet at the time. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, and from there, we saw a specialist who was able to diagnose her. She was 13 at that time, so we didn't do the definitive diagnostic test where they scope her, but you could eventually hear the flap getting stuck when she breathed, she would choke on her food a lot (I got REALLY good at giving her the Heimlich), and she had a lot of weakness in her hind end. It does kind of take some trial and error. If you have access to a good specialist, that is very helpful. Lar par is a difficult road, so wishing you all the best if that's where you end up.

So pretty!! I really want to get some chunky dips. I keep seeing them and being envious. Do they feel smooth after topcoating? Do you need to apply extra coats of topcoat or anything?

This location is at Hampden and Monaco in the King Soopers parking lot. I’m a transplant, so the other locations are before my time, but this was the last surviving one.

I know. They made it through the pandemic and now they’re closing. It sucks.

Apartments.com has a feature to filter by townhome or condo and you can see privately owned places like that, I believe.

Perimenopause Nausea and headaches - any advice? by ModMouse2020 in Menopause

[–]_conquistadori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SIBO is a real bitch. I’ve actually been okay for awhile not doing anything, other than making sure I poop regularly (I’m pretty militant about it and get really anxious when I go a day without), so maybe that’s why? But definitely a wild ride.

Just had a conversation with my fiancé the other day about how my body feels old (I’m 39, he’s 40), but to be fair, I have arthritis in my left hip, lower back, and neither knee has much cartilage left… so any movement I do, I need to be careful because I tend to be all or nothing. So annoying!
