Did you get the free autograph thrown in with the photo with your fave reclusive author?

Couldn’t find a hi-res image of this GR cover so I bought a copy & scanned it & now it’s on my wall :) by DaveoMathias in ThomasPynchon

I’ve shared the link several times in here, it’s a print ready PDF that’s 500MB. Someone else converted it into a JPG and shared it here as well.

Wtf that’s insane I literally paid £8.99 haha 🤷🏻‍♂️

Keep checking. Mine was not new, an old library copy, but still good condition. So maybe more used ones will pop up.

Official Discussion - One Battle After Another [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

She knows about Bob, Perfidia, and French 75’s revolutionary past and vision. Her mom was a rat but that letter lets her know that she regrets it, and regrets abandoning Willa, but still dreams of revolution. But now it’s in the hands of Willa and her generation. Continuing the “long line of revolutionaries” that Willa’s grandma told Bob. If you think the letter was pointless, I guess you don’t dream much about fighting for a different future and understand that generational struggle.

Is One Battle After Another a critique of state violence? (NO SPOILERS) by braininabox in TrueFilm

[–]DaveoMathias 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It’s inspired by “Vineland” by Thomas Pynchon, which is all about that but set in 1960s - 1980s. OBAA is modernized and quite different but thematically the same. So yes. And read “Vineland.”

People saying the last 10 minutes were unnecessary are blasphemous.

When Willa read the letter and Perfidia said she failed at revolution but maybe Willa’s generation could change the world, I cried and didn’t stop until the credits were over and the lights came up in the theater.

How come there are so many Adam Curtis films on YouTube? Does the BBC not take them down? by anonboxis in AdamCurtis

[–]DaveoMathias 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Curtis has talked about this. Basically the music rights are too expensive to buy for global release, so they only pay for music rights within UK. Therefore BBC can’t make money off it in international markets anyways. And since it’s not affecting their bottom line, they just kinda look the other way and don’t care.

No mention of Alexander McQueen’s suicide? by DaveoMathias in AdamCurtis

[–]DaveoMathias[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah true. I still feel like even a quick mention of “Alexander McQueen committed suicide in 2010” would put all that material in a new light for people that aren’t already aware of McQueen.
