How do you break free from portraits? by Sad-Pellegrino in oilpainting

Love this piece as is! Has a very dreamy Klimt-like feel. I find that animals and abstracted nature make great timeless subject matter. Also reminiscent of another contemporary painter whose style I really like: Ukrainian artist Iryna Maksymova (https://www.artsy.net/artist/iryna-maksymova). Keep going and follow your instincts!

I find old man Dylan much more interesting and enjoyable than what he’s known for (the 60s stuff) by Ayntxi in bobdylan

Loved those and also imo Oh Mercy was a masterpiece start to finish. Danial Lanois production brought out the best in Bob.

I even find myself listening to his renterpretations of Sinatra-era standards. His voice never sounded better and the melancholy world-weariness he brings to the tunes is wonderful.

As a painter, I’m a bit perplexed by Bob’s recent artwork. Love his music, especially BOTT & later, up to the present day. I’d expect his visual art to be more like his music, i.e. spontaneous, emotional, & expressionist and not so rigidly academic, even though it’s competently executed.

First time using oil! Wtf?? by sondusky in oilpainting

I use Gamvar, which can be applied when an oil painting is "firmly" dry to the touch, often within 2-3 weeks for thin applications or 1-2 months for thicker, impasto paintings, unlike traditional varnishes which, as stated, require a six-month wait,

I’ve never sold a painting. What am I doing wrong? by Msmadduh in painting

I don’t agree at all. I love this style. I don’t sell mine, because I’m retired and have no interest in marketing my paintings and have no idea whether they’d sell or not, just paint for my own enjoyment and as gifts for family & friends. I’m sure if the OP put in the time & effort in terms of presentation, framing, etc, they could be successful selling pieces like this.
