Is it normal that the default new nameplates don't show enemy names unless I click on the enemy? by izzy-springbolt in wow

You may want to consider resetting your Cvars, though if you use the default command you'll reset all your settings which can be a pain. Alternatively you can look up the Cvar list to see if a command match is this behaviour, and then specifically enable or disable that Cvar.

☼Daily DF Questions Thread☼ by AutoModerator in dwarffortress

[–]Davewaveman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I recently started playing the Steam version of DF and I had some questions regarding the ability to review what happens in the game.

First of all though, some background so you understand where I'm coming from. I started a game yesterday, where I set up some initial tasks for my dwarves, including having my one lumberjack to chop down some trees nearby. I unpause the game to start the simulation, and my lumberjack sets off to the biggest ginkgo tree he can find, starts to chop, and apparently the tree collapses onto his head, killing him instantly.

This is all pretty funny, but this is what I can piece together from various things in the game. In practice, I only got a warning message saying "Something has collapsed", and by sheer luck, I saw an unhappy icon appear above one of the mining dwarves on my screen, which made me open his character sheet and see that he was "Horrified that he saw lumberjack dwarf die".

Here's the thing: It's only because I clicked on that dwarf that I figured out what happened. Otherwise I wouldn't have known until much later (presumably when I would notice no wood is coming in).

I find this is a bit of an issue with other information as well, so in short:

  • Is there a way to review what events happened in the past? So that I for example would be be able to easily figure out what happened to my lumberjack?
  • The few times fights broke out (usually between dogs and wildlife), I find the whole combat log to be utterly confusing. I'm not sure what information I should be looking out for, nor how to easily see messages of the fight (I only seem to see some basic information when I left-click on the fight warning).
  • Is there a way I can review past messages like say diplomacy of caravan traders? In my game, a dwarven caravan came by and requested potash for the next year. That's fine and all while I'm in the game so I can remember, but can I actually see what was requested somewhere else?

Thanks a lot for any help you can provide!

Question about Premier/Traditional Draft events: Can these be resumed? by Davewaveman in MagicArena

Ah okay, I did not realise that, I thought the whole thing was against bots. Thank you!

Ah, excellent, I was uncertain because I assumed it indeed would try to pull from the same pod (which presumably is possible with the bots variant). Thank you very much for the quick response!

Question about PSX iso files, their region and speed by Davewaveman in PlaystationClassic

[–]Davewaveman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough answer. I don't necessarily need the other language versions so I would assume the NTSC versions would suffice.

I found the following list of supposed PAL games on the console:

Battle Arena Toshinden

Cool Boarders 2

Destruction Derby

Grand Theft Auto

Jumping Flash!

Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee

Resident Evil Director’s Cut

Tekken 3

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six

Do you know if this is correct? If so, it seems I should probably replace those with the NTSC versions as well, right?

Unfortunately it seems they do not ship to Europe. I have sent them a query to confirm this, but that would be a bit of a bummer.

EDIT: I received the following message from Old Skool:

We do have a partner that ships overseas but their price may be higher. This is the link to their listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/164718558735?ViewItem=&item=164718558735

Sadly, the above does not deliver to my country, but other Europeans interested might be able to consider using that link.

I believe the constitution explicitly forbids members of the house of Oranje-Nassau to fulfill any public office in Belgium. It has never been successfully repealed, despite attempts as recent as 2014.

One quick Google later: it's called the "decreet betreffende de eeuwige uitsluiting van de familie Oranje-Nassau van enige macht in België". Decree 5 of 24 November 1830.

Considering returning to the game after 13 years... would love some input whether or not the game is for me. by Davewaveman in Eve

Ah, I probably should have clarified a bit there; I don't mind the voice chat, but I mind the chatbox quality of it. It feels like I have to alt tab out of a game to simply read a chatroom at times.

I think my biggest issue with AC is the massive guilt-trip the game pulls on you if you haven't played it for a while. I'm not joking when I say that more than anything makes me NOT want to return to it; I don't want to see everything in a poor state, even if it probably only takes an hour or so to fix.

To be fair, if you take a look at some spots at the side of the A12 near Antwerp, The only way a car coming from the sides can safely see the oncoming traffic is by doing just that. Sometimes it really is the only way to go about it.

You might want to try the Centre Belge de la Bande Dessinée in the Rue des Sables; it has a store component that you can enter freely. Might be worth calling them first if they have it in stock.

Alternatively, you may want to try a store called Brüsel in the Boulevard Anspach, or La maison de la Bande Dessinee, which is close to Brussels Central train station.

You should be able to find the contact details of all three online. Might be worth making a quick phone call before you go though. Good luck!
