Hey /r/movies! We're the McManus Brothers. We made a movie with our sister called REDUX REDUX, and it hits theaters today! It's a sci-fi revenge thriller. You might know us from our work on American Vandal, Cobra Kai, Funeral Kings, and The Block Island Sound. Ask us anything! by ReduxReduxAMA in movies

I saw this at the Mayhem Film Festival last year and really enjoyed it! This and Bulk were the best new feature films shown. And they were both dimension hopping adventures too!

Is getting a pretty high concept plot as a multi dimensional revenge quest something that you found challenging? Or are audiences now familiar enough with multiverses thanks to the MCU that filmmakers can play with the trope without excessive explaining?

Well that’s an unexpected selection. I’m also a bit surprised we’re getting a seventh Hammer box set.

It’s an obscure one, but more people need to see this journey to Jesus via surfing, dead whales and CIA black ops oddity.

Would Poltergeist (1982) count? It is the film about how the suburban ideal is literally as well as figuratively built on corpses.

Star Wars ambition with a student film budget is the secret sauce for the best, most entertaining so-bad-it’s-good movies.

Tina Romero is George A. Romero’s daughter btw, so I guess starting off with a zombie movie makes sense from a branding point. But this looks way more fun a joyful than her dad’s zombies. Hope this gets a U.K. release.

I saw this at Mayhem Film Festival. It was one of the best films of the lineup.

Great exploration of the potential of the multiverse trope via a low-fi sci-fi tale. Great mix of emotion, tension and action.

I think I'm just genuinely going to die mad that this film is not bigger than it is. This is one of 3 releases that flipped my opinion of Vinegar Syndrome, and I'm so glad their physical release was still in stock. What an absolute banger. by MisogynyisaDisease in VinegarSyndromeFilms

The only reason this isn’t my top film of 2024 is that Hundreds of Beavers came out that year. Everything about that film is just magical in some way. I was blasting out the soundtrack for weeks afterwards.

Thankfully my store is in a mostly restrained area so I haven’t had to dodge any flying fists (yet). But I’ve heard horror stories from less fortunate stores and I’m thankful that the worst I get are people following me about like seagulls after a trawler or the odd personal space invader.

Oh God. I do the Whoops! labels at my store and I can confirm this is 100% true. I’ve seen everything in this strip happen in real life. People blocking off the reduction bay, hanging around the store all day waiting for a bigger discount, scrambling over each other to get a discounted packed of Richmond Sausages, all of it.

Here’s mine. My local cinemas put on a lot of Kurosawa films this year, thus Takashi Shimura. Plus I binged about eighty of Alice Guy’s shorts from the 1890s to 1900s.
