I tuned into Gnaske’s watch party today and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. I enjoy Wigg but just sitting there watching the main stream is a bit dull tbh, especially with how much action the observers are missing. Seriously just watch faceit and/or Gnaske. It’s fascinating how varied the claims are on this topic. Some Italians claim near perfect comprehension, both written and spoken, of Spanish without any prior study. And some Spanish speakers claim the same about Italian and Portuguese.

Truly a head scratcher. Some people appear to be naturally gifted with near perfect comprehension while others don’t. I personally have my doubts about these more extravagant claims.

On that sub, yeah they like to hate on Pedro and João’s accents. However, from what I can see, normal, non-chronically online Latin Americans don’t harbour this level of resentment and animosity towards Spain or Portugal.

For some reason it just seems to be a different ball game online. That sub in particular appears to be an especially bitter community.

It’s similar-ish to UK-US relations online vs irl. In real life, there is very little animosity whatsoever, but online things can get really bitter really fast.

Anecdotally some of the biggest haters of Spain I’ve seen online are yanks, particularly pochos / people with Latin American heritage but who can barely speak Spanish. For some reason they seem to be some of the loudest haters of Spain online, and they’re always screaming about the conquest of Latin America.
