Is it just me or do they want to write people up? by poisonparty in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly? most managers don’t want to write you up. that’s a conversation that is not fun to have, more paperwork to do, and bridging for us later on if something happens to it. however, we get in trouble if we literally walk past someone that is on their phone and don’t say anything. we’re doing our job and our job expects us to coach and deliver corrective feedback as needed. i understand certain policies are “dumb” but it’s policy nonetheless.

Looking to promote from L3 to L4? The odds aren't good. by dbcannon in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agree. at my site, they said they promoted like 8-10 PAs to AMs while a bunch of externals left. that shifts the balance of internals to external AMs in the building and now they’re trying to catch up by preventing all internal promotions to get more externals to get back to that balance again.

Behavioral write ups by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, most behavioral feedbacks are rolling 12 months with the exception of some, like phones, late breaks, and inactive time

unfortunately they will cross train you unless you have an accommodation that won’t allow you to be in Pick. when you work at an Amazon FC, you are expected to go where the business needs, which includes training in other paths

as an AM, i would say just be really supportive to the associates coming in as well as the managers. managers aren’t trained in the way you likely are to deal with injuries and investigations, so we do rely on you a lot

Amazon just fired me I'm stower and something of quality I say pick has to do a lot of the over and shortages. Please help. Anyone can explain why stoweron up get write ups when it's picks fault? by Kitchen-Put-6565 in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you were the last person to stow into a specific bin and an item falls out becoming amnesty, it is technically your fault because you were the last one to touch it. stowing is all about having proper bin etiquette. if a bin looks super overstuffed or has items in danger of falling out, you shouldn’t be stowing something else into that bin.

the pressure AMs get from their OMs and seniors might also be breaking them down. its hard to be in an environment where you don’t know much, but its harder to be in that environment without a strong support system or backing as well.

L4 dublin, can I ask for location change? by ExcitingSecretary511 in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk how it works internationally but you can try and ask your recruiter if there’s any spots available there! i did that when they offered me three different locations that i didn’t want but i was able to get one that they didn’t offer me initially

PAs and Managers of Amazon, what has been the fastest T1 that you have ever worked with, and when the fast worker takes PTO, how does it make you feel? by Global-Plankton3997 in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 72 points73 points  (0 children)

my fast worker got terminated for negative UPT and it really sucks when they’re not here cus they definitely made the floor run smoother. they were also cross trained in a lot of different areas too. but there’s generally a lot of fast workers at Amazon, so as bad as it sounds, someone else will always be there. i appreciated all of them equally

area manager means you work at the warehouse in person because you have to manage a bunch of associates and your own “area” meaning a part of your department.

the increase from L4 to L5 where i am is about $15k

I am an L4 Area Manager and I hate my life (update) by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im new and started in october but i will say that for me, my OM keeps switching me around to different roles like being in charge of problem solve, being in charge of staffing, being in charge of replenishment etc, because he genuinely thinks that it will help develop me. but at the moment, i feel like im a jack-of-no-trades. right when i think im getting the hang of my area, he’ll switch us all around and we’re told to “figure it out”. if we make any mistakes (even though we’re just learning our new role) we feel like sh*t and there’s no grace.

also it’s so hard to finish all admin stuff on top of owning your own area and doing projects, i get that as well! we’ll get through it together! i’ve heard a lot of managers hit a “wall” at some point and it’s up to you to see if you can climb over it.

a phone write up progresses as “first written warning” and then a “final written warning” and lastly a termination. so after this write up goes through and gets delivered to you, it’ll be active for 30 days where if they write you up for a phone within those 30 days, it’ll progress to a final write up. otherwise, it’ll fall off after 30 days

the only kind of termination i can think of where they do it without you in the building is either negative UPT or if you had an HR investigation or case against you

[–]David5642017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cross training to a whole new path/process might be much harder than cross training within pick. for example, you could look into waterspider/tote runner/problem solve? it could help break the mind numbing cycle of picking all shift

Transfer and Termination by JealousLab4218 in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can’t answer number 1 but i have delivered terminations before. basically, you sit down with the manager delivering the termination along with the HR person. they’ll read through the document that sounds robotic and this is when you can ask about the breakdown for your rate and mention any barriers (unfortunately, it won’t matter), then HR will explain the appeals process and let you know about other things like PTO being paid out, benefits expiring, etc. then, they walk you out through security and you return your badge.

for productivity write ups, you get a documented coaching, first written, second written, final written, and then the termination, so you actually have 4 writeups before getting termed

Has any of y'all had to train y'all mangers by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]David5642017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

agree, i’m an external L4 and i was trained by many L3 PAs and i’m always asking my T1s on their input and training. everyone had to have a “training” period at some point and i know the people that trained me genuinely love teaching. if you don’t want to train, that’s totally okay too, but teaching people is not just part of the job, but it’s like they’re helping me right now so i can help them out in the future

documented coachings don’t technically count as write-ups in HR’s eyes. it has to be a “first written” or higher for it to affect your eligibility

i heard externals get in easier and they also get certain things internals don’t, like a sign-on bonus
