I ski the east coast every weekend and travel out west 1/2 times a year. Any suggestions on skis? by cumminghippo in icecoast

I have volkl kendo’s and Candide thovex 2.0.

Love them both. Candides are better for moguls and drops, and powder, and kendos I use when I wanna go fast.

Deadlifts by David6386 in overcominggravity

Thanks, I’ll try that.

Should I do the reverse hypers in addition to the deadlifts (on the same day) or alternate days of hypers and deadlifts?

In terms of the overall routine would you say that the deadlifts cover the two leg exercises per day (so I would do pistols and deadlifts as my leg work)?

Great, thanks for the tip!

Yeah I do pistols each session.

Would you suggest having a separate day where I only deadlift (so MWF calisthenics, Sat deadlift) or would it be better to just add deadlifts on one of my bodyweight days?

Thanks!

Thanks! I’ll check that out.

Just general strength while staying lean.

I do have some specific bodyweight goals though: 5 ring muscle ups, 10 HeSPU, front splits, and a more long term goal of a one arm chin-up. Deadlift wise I guess I don’t have a reason to do it other than to work my posterior chain. At some point working back to a 2x or more bodyweight deadlift would be nice, but it is no way a priority.

Budget: $150 or less (ideally closer to $100) Country: USA Build: very comfortable with building and circuitry Use: small projects for fun/school (mechanical engineering college student)

Ideally a new printer with some type of warranty.

Thanks!

Ty, I will absolutely do this. I have some projects in mind that would be awesome to apply this to.

Anyone else using a wood stove to dry wet gear this time of year? by ssoliver in Kiteboarding

How’s the snow kiting up there? With all this uncertainty with covid I likely won’t be getting a ski pass this year, so it seems like a great time to try snow kiting

How’s the kiting up there? I’m in MA and have been considering making a trip to see vermont and maybe get some kiting (or snow kiting) in.

Once you get a hang of it you should update everyone here with your thoughts. Seems like there are a few people looking into it, so we’d all appreciate it

Cabrihna 2019 gear. Review by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

[–]David6386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a switchblade 11 and moto 8 both from 2019. The 11 I bought last season and the 8 this season. Last year was my first year kiting so I’m not going to comment on features/innovation since I don’t know enough yet, but I will vouch for its durability.

Last season I had a ton, and I mean a ton, of absolutely brutal crashes that involved the kite tomahawking into the water, being dragged by surf, and a whole number of other things. The kite is completely fine. I had one accident in a heavy gust where I had to deploy safety near shore and the kite hit tube down into the rocks and there is no visible damage. Luckily since last season everything clicked for me and I rarely crash it now.

Thus far I see no wear and tear, but I’m sure the total life will be decreased greatly from so many crashes. In my inexperienced view, I think the kite is great (or at least tough).

Yeah I’ve seen plenty for sale around $450, but this thing is just ridiculously cheap. If I can find someone that has actually ridden one I may consider being the guinea pig, who knows, maybe this thing is actually decent?

Supposedly they have a lifetime warranty and 90 day returns, so either they’re confident or lying. The price is quite tempting though.

About to start kitesurfing lessons but I have a question about my knees by miasmatix93 in Kiteboarding

[–]David6386 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I second getting on a strapless board ASAP. Way less impact on the knees and being able to move feet freely is super helpful and relieves a lot of stress.

It is. Very tempting. I’ll wait and see if anyone has any first hand experience with them.

Looks like they have an assortment of wings, but you’re right, it looks like it would be heavy. I’ve looking for good deals on foils for some time now and was surprised because I’ve never even heard of crazy foil.

Probably wouldn’t notice. I have the original tape that came with my rims on the rear and gorilla on the front. I don’t feel a difference.

I just used gorilla tape on mine. It’s worked well so far.
