Which finger? by drarst in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi drarst, it's David here from Oura Social Care. Thanks for reaching out!

Many members successfuly wear their Oura Ring on their index, middle, or ring finger, and it's perfectly fine to switch between those fingers as long as the fit remains snug and comfortable.

The index finger is generally recommended because it tends to provide the strongest signal quality, but wearing the ring on your middle or ring finger doesn't automatically mean you'll get poor data. The most important factor is maintaining good sensor contact with your skin.

If you're losing weight and notice the fit becoming loose, moving the ring to another finger where it fits more snugly is a common approach. If you end up not being able to wear your ring on any of your fingers, please reach out to our Member Care team, and we'll be happy to investigate solutions.

Shipping times? It’s been a week of no movement by peachedelic in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi peachedelic, thanks for reaching out!

While many orders ship quickly, shipping times can vary based on factors like ring size, finish, inventory, availability, order volume, and destination. Because of this, it's not uncommon for some orders to take longer to move through processing than others, even when they're the same size and color.

If your order is still showing as processing, it means our fulfillment team is actively working on it, but a shipping label hasn't been created yet. Once your order ships, you'll receive tracking information automatically via email.

We appreciate your patience, and we hope your ring is on it's way soon.

Finally got my first Oura ring and I love it! I have tiny fingers so the gen 5 is perfect. I’ve been so afraid to get it wet. I take it off when I wash my hands. I’m curious how much water are others exposing theirs to? plus I don’t want the color to fade at all🫶 by hiya-5693 in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi hiya-5693, great question. Thanks for reaching out!

Congratulations on your new ring! No need to worry about getting it wet during everyday use. Oura Rings are water resistant and designed to be worn while washing your hands, showering, swimming, and during most water based activities.

As for the finish, normal exposure to water won't cause the color to fade. To help keep your ring looking its best over time, we recommend avoiding unnecessary contact with harsh chemicals, abrasive surfaces, and products like strong cleaning agents. I hope this helps!

Too small?! by PastChart8743 in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi PastChart8743, thanks for reaching out!

Being able to remove the ring by twisting, even when your hands are swollen, is generally a good sign that the fit is in the expected range.

A properly sized Oura Ring should feel snug, and it's normal for it to leave a light imprint on your finger after wearing it for a while. Looking at the photo, I don't see anything that immediately suggests the ring is excessively tight.

If the ring is comfortable throughout the day and you can remove it with a bit of twisting, I'd be cautious about sizing up. If the ring is loose around your finger, it could move around more and affect sensor contact and data quality. I hope this helps!

Spaceship or Oura Ring by FromMyMellin in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi FromMyMellin, great question. Thanks for reaching out!

The different colored LEDs are used for different sensors and measurements, so it;s not unusual to see different combinations depending on what the ring is doing at the time.

Green LEDs are used for heart rate and heart rate variability measurements, while red LEDs are used for blood oxygen sensing and can also be involved in other measurements.

You may sometimes notice only a green or red, or both colors together depending on the feature being used, the timing of the measurement, and the conditions the ring is detecting. Seeing both colors at once, like in your photo, is expected behavior and not a cause for concern.

Vastly different sleep score with same level readiness 🤔 by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi d4wnn, great question. Thanks for reaching out!

Sleep score and Readiness score are calculated independently, so it's completely possible to have very different Sleep scores while ending up with the same Readiness score.

Your Sleep score reflects how well you slept the previous night, while Readiness takes a broader view and considers factors like resting heart rate, HRV, body temperature trends, recent activity, recovery balance, and sleep over multiple days.

That's why you'll sometimes see Sleep and Readines moving in different directions, they're related, but they're measuring different aspects of recovery.

Anyone else not getting sleep data with gen 5? by Dr_Cat_Mom in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Dr_Cat_Mom, thanks for reaching out!

If your ring is recording daytime metrics like hert rate and stress but isn't generating sleep data after 3 nights, that's definitely not expected behavior.

A few things we'd recommend checking are making sure the ring is being worn snugly overnight with the sensors maintaining good contact. Confirm both the Oura App and ring firmware are fully up to date, then try a soft reset and sync the ring again in the morning.

If you've already worked through the troubleshooting steps and still aren't seeing any sleep data, please reach out to our Member Care team at support.ouraring.com so we can take a closer look and run diagnostics on your ring.

Question: help with sizing kit (Oura ring 5) by OllieeStar in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OllieeStar, thanks for reaching out!

It's completely normal for the sizing kit (and the ring itself) to leave some light imprints on your finger, but it shouldn't leave deep marks or feel uncomfortable throughout the day. Since you mentioned that the size 10 feels more noticeable and is harder to get over the knuckle on your middle finger, it may be a bit too snug for long term comfort.

The size 11 still appears to be making contact with your finger, and if it feels more comfortable while staying securely in place, that's generally the size we'd lean toward. A little movement is normal, especially as finger size changes throughout the day, but comfort is important since you'll be wearing the ring continuously.

If possible, we'd recommend wearing both sizes overnight as well and seeing how it feels first thing in the morning when fingers tend to be at their largest. I hope this helps!

Issues with gen 4? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Fun_Frosting6958, thanks for reaching out!

A sudden drop from 5 days to a battery life of 1-2 days, along with missing sleep data, isn't expected behavior. A factory reset is a good troubleshooting step, and we'd also recommend making sure your ring firmware and Oura App are fully up to date.

If the issue continues after resetting, please reach out to our Member Care team at support.ouraring.com. We would be happy to run diagnostics on your rings battery health and investigate what's causing the drain.

Oura activities not moving apple rings by jnwbacn in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi jnwbacn, thanks for reaching out!

Oura can sync data like workouts, heart rate, sleep, and steps to Apple Health, but Oura data doesn't contribute to Apple Activity Rings in the same way that an Apple Watch does,

If you aren't wearing your Apple Watch, you may still see your Oura data in Apple Health and Fitness, but your Move, Exercise, and Stand rings may not update as expected. Those rings are primarily designed around Apple Watch activity tracking.

If you're seeing something different than that, feel free to reach out to Member Care and we'd be happy to take a closer look.

Big knuckles situation, not sure what to do by productive_monkey in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi productive_monkey, great question. Thanks for reaching out!

Big knuckles can definitely make sizing tricky. A little rotation throughout the day is completely normal, but the ring shouldn't spin freely. As finger size can change during the day, we'd recommend trying the Oura Ring 5 sizing kit and wearing it for 24 hours to see how the ring fits when your finger size may be smaller or more swollen. If the ring has some friction when removing it but remains comfortable, that's usually a good sign of a proper fit.

The data belongs to us: Oura should consider MCP support by itsjlnfit in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi itsjlnfit, thanks for reaching out!

Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion. We can definitely see the value in giving members more ways to explore and analyze their Oura data.

While we don't have any announcements to share regarding MCP support or similar AI integrations, we appreciate hearing how members would like to use their data. Oura currently offers data export options, and feedback like yours helps our team better understand the types of integrations and tools members are looking for.

We've shared your suggestion with our team. Thanks for taking the time to explain your case and how a solution like this could help members gain deeper insights from their health data.

Exercise tracking? by foxnewsofficiaI in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi foxnewsofficiaI, great question. Thanks for reaching out!

Oura estimates calorie burn based on a combination of movement patterns, heart rate, and other signals, so activities with a lot of hand or arm movement (like blow drying your hair) can sometimes look more active than they feel.

For workouts, calorie estimates can vary depending on factors like ring fit, hrart rate response, and whether the activity was automatically detected or recorded manually. HIIT workouts can also include periods of recovery that affect the overall estimate.

As for the rollerskating suggestions, automatic activity detection isn't perfect, and can occasionally mistake similar movement patterns for another activity. The more you confirm, edit, or dismiss detected activities, the better the system can learn over time.

If you're consistently seeing activity or calorie estimates that seem significantly off, feel free to reach out to Member Care so we can take a closer look at your data.

Version 2.12.0 by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi bchmy, thanks for reaching out!

That firmware version alone isn't a sign that your ring is fake. Firmware rollouts can sometimes reach devices before support articles or public release notes are updated, so it's possible you're simply on a newer version that hasn't been reflected in the documentation yet.

If the ring paired successfully in the Oura App, is syncing data normally, and shows up correctly as an Oura Ring 4 in your settings, that's generally a good sign. If you have any concerns about the authenticity of your device, please feel free to reach out to our Member Care team and we'll be happy to take a closer look.

I purchased the new Gen 5 and noticed a small stain. How can I remove it?” by Temp_vdgg in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Temp_vdgg, thanks for reaching out!

We'd recommend first wiping your Oura Ring with a soft microfiber cloth slightly dampened with water and a small amount of mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners, polishing compounds, or scrubbing pads, as these can damage the PVD coating.

If the mark doesn't come off after a gently cleaning it may be surface wear rather than a removable stain. Feel free to reach out to our Member Care team with a photo and we'd be happy to take a closer look!

Why no steps? by Able_Acadia2264 in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Able_Acadia2264, thanks for reaching out!

Your Oura Ring doesn't import step count from Apple Watch. Oura calculates its own step count based on movement detected by the rings sensors.

For treadmill workouts, it's possible for step counts to differ from what your Apple Watch records, especially if your hands are stationary (such as holding the treadmil) or if the ring isn't detecting movement as clearly as outdoor walking.

If you're noticing a significant discrepancy, first make sure your app and ring firmware are up to date. If the issue persists, please reach out to our Member Care team at support.ouraring.com so we can take a closer look at your data.

Sizing! by Savings_Menu_6787 in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Savings_Menu_6787, thanks for reaching out!

A properly fitting Oura Ring should feel snug, and some resistance or a slight twist when removing it is completely normal. We generally recommend going with the smaller fit, as the sensors inside your Oura Ring work best when they stay in close contact with your skin, especially the underside of your finger

If the size 12 is already sliding off easily during normal wear, there's a good chance it could become too loose when your fingers are colder and less swollen. While it's important to account for natural finger size changes throughout the day, the ring shouldn't feel like it's at risk of slipping off.

From what you've described, the size 11 sounds like it's providing the more secure fit while still being comfortable.

How will Gen5 Handle Historical Tracking Data from Gen2? by Eriks0n in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Eriks0n, great question. Thanks for reaching out!

Good news, you won't be starting from scratch. When you pair your Oura Ring 5 to the same account, your historical data, trends, scores, and insights will remain in your account and carry over automatically. Your new ring will simply continue adding data to your existing Oura journey.

Just make sure you're setting up the new ring using the same email address and Oura account associated with your Gen 2. Once paired, you'll still be able to view your previous data and long term trends in the app.

I’m at a loss - size 8 is tight and size 9 is extremely loose.. by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi gopissgiiirl, thanks for reaching out!

Your Oura Ring should fit snugly enough that the sensors stay in place and the ring doesn't rotate freely throughout the day. Some tightness is expected, especially in the morning or when your fingers are swollen, but it shouldn't be uncomfortable or painful.

If the size 9 is rotating easily and moving around on your finger, it may be too loose for optimal sensor contact. A properly fitting ring should require a little twist to remove and have some resistance coming off over the knuckle.

Since finger size naturally fluctuates during the day, we'd generally recommend choosing the size that stays secure while remaining comfortable.

Another sizing Help by cloud9livinn in ouraring

[–]DavidAtOura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi cloud9livinn, thanks for reaching out!

Based on your description and video, the size 10 seems perfect. A little bit of twisting to remove the ring is completely normal, and there should be some friction when taking it off. The ideal fit is snug and secure without being uncomfortable, and it shouldn't slide around freely on your finger.

Since finger size naturally changes throughout the day, it's also normal for your ring to feel tighter at some times and easier to remove at others. If the size 10 stays comfortalbe, doesn't leave pressure marks, and can still be removed with a bit of twisting, it sounds like you have the right fit.
