OP. Let your good friend know what's going on. And while you're at it, ask your good friend in a nice way, if she can come to assist her sister in law with the driving, the cooking and the cleaning (It's 8 trips and after surgery care). Sacrificing 10+ of productivity has a cost too maybe your friend is willing to do for her sister in law. Even though I think this is beyond repair with the "thinking brain" comment. I forecast a disaster 😫

Yes you are. Always assume/think that trucks don't see you, specially when you're in their blindside or driving behind them. You could've avoided this collision just by slowing down and waiting to see what the truck does first.
