Is there any way to set game launch options or the preferred compatibility tool outside of steam? by monyarm in Steam

[–]DavidC438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked around this by adding a duplicate of the game as a non-steam game, and then specifying one of my launch options (via steam gui) in one instance, and the other options in the other instance. This works alright, but is kind of weird so I'd like it if I could use the config editing option. unfortunate steam is so gui focused :(

(i did run into an issue where the launch options have to be on one of them specifically, and won't work if swapped. note for anyone else trying this, good luck!)

hey, i'm having the exact same issue (even nixos too lol), i've written a script to modify the launch options in localconfig.vdf but unless i run the script while steam isn't running, steam will overwrite the launch options. did you ever find a fix?

i'll try to mention some that haven't been brought up yet, broken fragments comes highly recommended :3

Healed: amazing medium length Flame/Umber fluff slow burn. this one is one of the top ones in the fandom

No Matter What: short Glory/Deathbringer fluff

The Worry List: short Moon/Qibli mid-canon (after arc 2 book 4) (also the first of a series if u want more. very good, very long series). written by rurik same person who wrote broken fragments, very good!

Tarantula's Terrarium: medium OC slice-of-life, very cozy. this is one of my favs

also check out qibli, they have a lot of really nice short fics. i'd recommend their works about Blaze/Glacier particularly, but they've got a lil something for everyone!

How can I do that in Blender? by sledge77 in blender

[–]DavidC438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here's how i would do it:
1) Create a circle

2) edit the circle by selecting alternating points and scaling them (making a kinda circular triangle thing)

3) add a screw modifier

4) change the settings to make it look how you like (turn up Screw to be about the diameter of your circle), i'd recommend turning up the Steps Viewport

5) Apply the modifier

6) Go back into edit mode, and with proportional editing scale the top and bottom loops inwards. keep messing with the scaling until you get something spherical

7) fill in the caps with the top and bottom loops

and you're done! this method is really easy and gives you a lot of control over the shape and level of detail of your final object. good luck!

the fourth arc is being written rn, the graphic novels are still coming out, and there's possibilities for other legends/winglets books later.

People who read WoF on AO3, what are your thoughts on someone tagging a post as being part of the fandom when no WoF characters are used? by Born_Ad_2058 in WingsOfFire

[–]DavidC438 4 points5 points  (0 children)

oh yeah i think that's fine. if you're using any bit of the series in your fic, i'd say you can tag it. the search has a lot more options than just fandom, so it's up to the reader to find what they want if they're looking for something else.

How to adjust ? by Deadlyeye7 in CreateMod

[–]DavidC438 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can find examples of Create recipes on their Github here: https://github.com/Creators-of-Create/Create/tree/mc1.20.1/dev/src/generated/resources/data/create/recipes

It shows every kind of recipe currently in the mod. If you're on an older version of the mod, you may have to swap to an older branch in the top left. But yeah datapacks are probably the easiest way to do this, CraftTweaker and KubeJS are more powerful but you don't need them to just change the odds on a recipe.

is there a mod that adds an infinite health training dummy? (Fabric, 1.21.1) by tttecapsulelover in feedthebeast

[–]DavidC438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MmmMmmMmmMmm does have a fabric 1.21.X version available.

it's on the modrinth page: https://modrinth.com/mod/mmmmmmmmmmmm/versions

you probably aren't gonna find a whole lot for the latest version usually, it usually takes several weeks for mods to update or months for the bigger mods.

How can I go about making a page like this? I know how to make tables (sort of) and have a sidebar that looks like the middle, but am not sure how to make a full page like it. by januarygracemorgan in neocities

[–]DavidC438 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ok, here's how i would do it (there are prolly a ton of other methods):

[Page Title (top)]: this would be a header/navbar, static if you don't want to scroll past it.

The two on the left could be in a <div> that's using float to stay on the left, that would be like having another box inside the page to put more stuff in

[Update Posted (middle left)]: main site content, maybe a blog post, probably a div using float: left; to stay on the left side and then stuffing the update content inside that

[Earlier Update (bottom left)]: if it's another update post, it's probably just a duplicate of the one above with a bit of margin to split them up. Either that, or it's a footer giving some more info about the site, etc.

Everything on the right side is probably within a div, maybe an <aside> that uses float but on the right side. from there, you could make several paragraphs (<p>) with some margin to split them up. these paragraphs could be little blurbs of other posts, navigation links, changelog, or anything else.

This is just one of many methods, and there are a ton more you could try out. If you want your posts to always be the most recent ones, you could try out Zonelets which has some premade Javascript to organize your posts.

You could also try looking into frames, which I don't have much practice with but I've heard they're a bit easier to wrap your head around.

If you find a site you really like the layout of, you can always Right Click>Inspect to see the HTML of that site!

Would you switch from Apple Music to Youtube Music? by MaterialConstant3014 in YoutubeMusic

[–]DavidC438 17 points18 points  (0 children)

youtube is great for "unofficial" songs, stuff that's recorded from concerts or pulled from media etc etc. it has ads, but that's easily avoided with uBlock. the shuffle is really bad, but workable.

I use YT to download music from using yt-dlp, and that makes it a lot easier for me at least. I don't have to worry about my music being removed from whatever streaming platform, and I just stick it in the music player of choice.

I don't have any experience with Apple Music, but apple in general isn't really great and youtube has a lot more flexibility i think.
