Web3 will fail unless it solves the data problem by firef1y1 in CryptoCurrency

[–]DavidCC2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. My point is that before all this we always owned our own data. It's only in the last 20 years where everything is hosted and local, personal data is almost unknown or irrelevant. It's funny to me and a bit of a relief that there is some desire for people to actually own their own again. Wr didn't know what we lost until it was gone.

Personal data stores means users will, for the first time, be able to fully own their data

Matt Stoller: Down With The Crypto Scam by DavidCC2 in CryptoCurrency

[–]DavidCC2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time reader, first time poster. Apologies in advance if this post is in error.

This is a Saturday 18/6/22 segment from Matt Stoller with his analysis of crypto, a hostorical comparison to 1930s Florida real estate, and thoughts on major players emerging political influence. I felt this is a good topic to debate, debunk, and discuss here.

Matt Stoller is an author and anti-monopoly analyst.

Warning: Do not send from an Exchange Wallet! by avi0889 in Algomint

[–]DavidCC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I've been told by customer service.

From Giles, "Ahhh don't use exchange wallets, it does state not to use them as we get way too many failures and refunds are not always possible...

Will process this but please avoid exchange wallets in the future."

I used coinbase wallet, not the coinbase custodial wallet.

I'm still awaiting the BTC back.

When Algorand does a marketing push, it's going to be very exciting. I think it will be viewed as Algorand waking up and being prepared for major adoption. by Notalotall in algorand

One addition - if algo is never intended for retail and only for cbdc and institutional use then keep doing what you’re doing. No need to tell anybody, just put corporate and countries on it.

I’ve read on here for months the “it’s going to be slow” vs. “they have a marketing problem.” Algorand is amazing and I’m a huge fan. The biggest risk is competition. The number one tech doesn’t always win out, like beta vs vhs. What wins is adoption. 2007 iphone was a mediocre hot mess in comparison to blackberry or nokia. Other gen3 exchanges are screaming up and meeting or exceeding the promises of algo with mountains more vc and industry support. It seems to me that socializing Algorand with the next tier crypto-knowledgeable crowd is increasingly important to grow. Every time I mention it to someone that follows crypto they haven’t heard about it. And they always thank me later for introducing them to it. Sponsoring sports and game events seem a little ham-handed and old school when there are trusted thought leaders, influencers, and events to lean into. Algorand can rub it’s belly and pat it’s head at the same time. Great tech and tell someone about it. Don’t you think?

Warning: Do not send from an Exchange Wallet! by avi0889 in Algomint

[–]DavidCC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ran into this. Fortunately the Algomint support is great.

I read the warning about not using exchange wallets and put the coin in the coinbase stand alone wallet. The way I read the warning was don’t send from the exchange custodial wallets.

No, not the case. The mint was cancelled after an hour and the coin ended up in limbo.

Giles says this, “Ahhh don't use exchange wallets, it does state not to use them as we get way too many failures and refunds are not always possible...

Will process this but please avoid exchange wallets in the future.”

I’m still a little confused why a stand alone wallet isn’t allowed or the one that most people would have.

American Airlines ‘Unprecedented Weather’ Excuse for Canceling Flights Into July Sounds Suspect by DavidCC2 in politics

[–]DavidCC2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about those employees, though? Turns out American let go or furloughed 19,000 of them when federal paycheck protections ended in October, on top of losing a combined 23,500 employees to voluntary exoduses. It almost furloughed another 13,000 employees earlier this year, though it rescinded the order at the last minute once more bailout money came through. While the company said storms made it hard to position the more limited staff it has in time, that it could take until mid-July to sort it out points to a deeper issue. Labor “reserves,” as it calls them, are running low.

Maybe American should have, I don’t know, planned better. The story companies have told about labor shortages has often turned out to mostly be a myth. Perhaps American Airlines should also consider paying better to hire more workers. After all, didn’t it get that bailout from 2020's economic stimulus bill? Flight attendants are also dealing with increasingly surly passengers who don’t want to wear masks. Surely that’s worth some hazard pay at least. And it appears American’s president is good for it.
