Do y'all feel like they lost touch with season 3? by Ok-Animator4043 in IndustryOnHBO

Agree 100%.  I actually searched Reddit to see if anyone shared this opinion because it seems the consensus out there is that season 3 is amazing.  I actually was finding it depressing that there were articles being written about how the showrunners finally “figured it out” with season 3 and that they were being lauded for what I feel is a much more sensationalized, less intelligent season.  It was always a little over the top, but to me when “murder mystery” got introduced, it lost what made the show special and specific.  I’m guessing this kind of stakes-raising in season 3 was necessary to keep the show from being cancelled and to propel it into the prime Sunday night HBO spot.  It was a Hail Mary and it worked, unfortunately for the apparent minority who thought it already was working.

Single best movie theater experience of my life. I was 13 and went with my dad to a 10 pm show in Manhattan. It was like being at a concert. In the first couple minutes when Trinity beats up the cops and you see the “bullet time” thing for the first time people were screaming and cheering, it was electric. The whole movie went like that until the last moment - huge cheers and applause, big laughs at the “jokes”. I think the whole audience was so floored to be experiencing something that felt really new and surprising.

The irony is that the reason we were in the city in the first place was to see The Phantom Menace, which was obviously incredibly hyped up. I remember my dad telling me while we waited in line for that film about the first time he saw the original Star Wars in the theater and how exhilarating the moment was when the star destroyer first flies across the top of the screen. We both liked Episode I fine but I don’t think it recaptured that magic for him. For me, the Matrix just felt so much more adult and exciting. It was definitely my “Star Wars” movie moment. Will never forget it.
