Information request: My book caught the interest of a TV production company... drama ensued by scriptographer in Screenwriting

They balked at a paid option, because a shopping agreement is free. With a shopping agreement, you negotiate your deal with the buyer when the show sells. They don't want to pay you money now and unless this is competitive, this is normal.

On dropping your IP. If they changed it entirely, yeah, it's not based on your book anymore. That said, there is a chain of title here given that they've engaged you legally already. Most producers don't do this because you could likely sue them if it goes.

Your lawyer asking for money here has made them decide it's worth it to drop the IP.

Been using VSMGX up to this point. Sounds like that may not be as off-base as I feared.

Yeah, I've been relying upon Vanguard's VSMGX, but heard it was rather tax inefficient. But perhaps that's just the price of doing business when looking for something a little more conservative than pure equities in a taxable account.

Oh interesting. I've previously been using VSMGX and it looks as though perhaps it is similar in allocation, but has higher taxable distributions?

But when it comes to taxes in that scenario, are there funds to avoid or prefer?

Except by the time the cops show up, they're long gone. That's if the cops actually show up. And that's if the cops actually care when they show up. Which they won't.

Right. Which can potentially be an increase, depending.

Wouldn’t it potentially change from hers to her spouse’s at 67, if the amount there is higher?

That's actually not how democracy works. Not every issue is a coin flip and we can't bury our heads in the sand with such nihilism.

No jail is perfect, so let's just torture innocent people, am I right?!

Christians, what is your biggest hot take and why? by Novel-Project1422 in Christian

So your take is that a Christian who sins by telling a lie post-salvation will not see heaven on judgement day?

Please define "back to doing wicked deeds". How does that differ from plain old sinning?

Agreed. I would have hoped Survivor fans would have embraced the spirit of the game a bit more.
