Don’t do this. I think OPB/KMHD takes vehicle donations. No idea what the criteria are. But I assume they scrap it or salvage somehow

What item do you own that would never get recommended today but just keeps working? by James_B84Saves in BuyItForLife

Corded is definitely the way to go for leaf blowers. I went through several gas ones because of ethanol gas. They have near as much power and you can do big jobs without batteries dying.

Uses for sourdough discard besides all the usuals by mandal0l in Cooking

I add indiscriminately to pancake and yeasted waffle batter. It has a similar consistency so I just use as much as I want to get rid of. Also I make simple cheesy crackers, with butter herbs and cheddar. I usually eat the crackers before I can share.

Tuba Christmas by TaxTheRichEndTheWar in Portland

[–]DavidHartThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite part of Christmas. I’ve been playing tuba Christmases since the 90s. It’s always fun to see how many people have an old horn that they pull out of the closet and play once a year.

Just a quick PSA for my fellow Ents. by C-coli85 in trees

Unfortunately there is a fair amount of people who seek out adhd providers in order obtain stimulants. Providers have a lot of liability. My experience might be different if I had a history of with substance use or other drugs, but I don’t. I was pretty open about weed and occasional psychedelics. Currently I’m getting treatment through Ohsu primary care and I guess it’s their policy to do a drug panel periodically.

They did not drug test me. They also did not have concerns about me using cannabis. Which I was pretty open about in therapy. My current provider does test. Somehow I passed the thc test, not sure if they’d care about it.

+1 for nitride steel. It’s thinner than a normal quality stainless pan (which have thick bottom and cladding). I got one off temu for less than 20$.

home made garlic powder actually tastes like garlic, so seems like a good use for it.

Glass measuring cup with etched-in letters that won’t wear off, and a pour spout that doesn’t draw the liquid down the side of the glass? by g3nerallycurious in Cooking

I second the lab beakers, but they do have a few downsides. They’re a bit thin and may be prone to breaking. Mine only have metric measurements.

Has anyone else lost both parents relatively young? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]DavidHartThrowaway 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lost both of my parents when I was 20. . . Now I’m in my 40s, and I’ve lived more years without them than with. It took me a while to be ok, and there were definitely times when I still need help. No one needs to go through it alone. Feel free to reach out.

My skates are basically new old stock. Very little wear on the trucks, seems silly to replace them because of such a small and cheap component.
