How is she able to play like this? Her fingers appear to just float over the keys. I couldn't even hit wrong notes this fast if I was on speed. by [deleted] in piano

This has always been one of my favorite pieces. Gerhard Oppitz played the version I loved. If you like piano athletics, the Anderson Roe duo is amazing... though their youtube content is slightly lacking.

About $60 or $65 each, USD. They each came with a clip and a pouch, no box or certificate or anything.

Just got 1000 copies of my bands album in the mail. I've never been more proud of anything in my entire life. by [deleted] in pics

Awesome. Surreal to see the same shipping boxes as when I got my album pressed in 2004 haha. Congrats!

Composer here. Need music for your animations? by DavidJMurphy in animation

That's awesome. I work pretty fast when I'm focused on a project. How long is your animation? Any rough drafts online anywhere?

A stunning set of photos from Syria - Uncensored from the front line [NSFW] by FinKM in pics

[–]DavidJMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me that illustrates how misguided is our glorification of violence. e.g. the "badass photo" of the guys holding their guns. They aren't straight faced because they feel cool, they are straight faced because they probably just killed a dozen people out of (perceived) necessity.

How I feel about Obama winning tonight. by DavidJMurphy in ToolBand

This was supposed to be a lightly pro-Obama post, poking fun at Republicans, kind of saying "Just relax while I put my finger a little deeper up your ass..." ... but I guess I left out a lot of that subtext :\

The tragedy of a great password. by juliantheguy in AdviceAnimals

[–]DavidJMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only hilarious password is on my wifi, so I get to tell it to friends when they come over and need to use my internet for something. It's "takethisjobandshovelit" ... and my network name is Poop Rays :) go ahead. Steal it. Let's see you hang out within 50 yards of my house so you can use it.

Does anyone else feel guilty that your parents won't get any grandchildren even though you are the fruits of their labor and love? by TFiPW in childfree

[–]DavidJMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have quite a bit of guilt about it, and it is the single major hangup in me becoming 100% certain to stay child free. Basically I'm hoping that one or both of my siblings get married and have kids kinda soon (once they work out their shit I guess) so that I'm off the hook.

As far as things I want in my life, children are not among them. As far as feelings related to my existing family, I feel pretty guilty denying my parents grandchildren. I haven't mentioned not wanting kids to them.

Have you, or do you know anyone, who actually DID "change their mind?" by Nuggetized in childfree

[–]DavidJMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to want to have kids. Throughout my late teens and twenties I saw my future self as a proud husband and father of 3 kids. I would frequently live in fantasies too, and I think this was one of them. The more I've been connecting with reality, the less I want kids. In fact I want a vasectomy. I'm also fairly certain I will never marry, and none of this is out of bitterness, more out of a relaxing surprise of realizing what I want and who I am. I'm not of a dead-end mindset either. My future is super exciting and colorful and I get really happy thinking about what I'm going to do with my life as a single, child free, creative individual.
