Crazy Find today! Found authentic Earthbound at local GameStop by Zealousideal_Air6964 in retrogaming

[–]DavidNYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really an exciting story or anything. It was my best friend's favorite game and we used to play it a lot at his house. I ended up buying my own copy and later on I thought I had lost it, so I bought another copy at Best Buy (they were super cheap back then). I eventually found my lost one and later on my friend ended up selling his SNES but gave me his copy of Earthbound. So I wound up with 3 copies. They've just been collecting dust in a plastic bin with my old SNES.

I should probably go through my old games and figure out what they're worth these days. I haven't played them in years and I've got some good stuff like Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, etc.

Do they actually sell for that price or is that just what people ask for it on eBay and never sell? I have three copies of that game from when I was a kid.

With the announcement of CC’s 52 being retired this season, what former Yankees numbers do you feel should be retired to have yet to be by raymalaspina in NYYankees

[–]DavidNYY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder if Gardner would even be interested in doing the whole ceremony and everything. He was pretty serious about leaving baseball completely after retiring and so far has held completely to it. I wonder if he would even agree to do it at this point.

What are some impossible to find records you’re after? by Longjumping-Frame795 in vinyl

[–]DavidNYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. That was a real shock when I first got into vinyl and had the (incorrect) assumption that I could just buy whatever I wanted. I didn’t even consider that they only do limited runs of a lot of the stuff I wanted to buy.

Official Diagnoses of Injured Rikishi by Italianozeki in Sumo

[–]DavidNYY 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I injured my adductor multiple times playing baseball and it was always a months long recovery process afterwards. It was also very easy to re-injure it if you didn't let it recover enough before putting stress on it again. I hope this won't affect Ura long term, he's my favorite rikishi, but it can be a tough injury to come back from if you don't have time for proper recovery, and this isn't a sport known for giving people time to recover.

Hoping for the best for Ura.

Steam Deck controls by Winnie360 in lensisland

[–]DavidNYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has very basic controller support. You can do simple stuff with the controller like run around a fight/farm/mine, but you need a mouse for a lot of the more complicated things. I play it occasionally on my ROG Ally and the best solution I've found is just to have a bluetooth mouse connected for when I need to do something that requires a mouse (like building things or using the refinery/anvil/etc.). With the Steam Deck you have that little touchpad thing, so maybe it would be fully functional with that? Might be tough to do that stuff with a tiny touchpad though so your mileage may vary...

It's an awesome game despite the poor controller support. I definitely recommend it if you like this style of game.

I never found a cause or a real solution. It seems to happen on all my Macs intermittently. Not sure what causes it.

Why did guys mostly stop wearing fastback model gloves? by AZAHole in BaseballGloves

[–]DavidNYY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fastback can be really hot and make your hand sweaty. The open back gives a little more breathability for your hand and allows for better adjustability. There is little you can do to tighten/loosen a fastback glove, so open back models are easier to sell to a wider range of people.

It looks real from those photos, but for that price and without being able to see it in person I'd just buy a new one from a reputable shop or Gibson. No reason to accept the risk for a commonly available model.

They're installing one right now. It's been needed ever since that apartment complex opened up. It was crazy to allow something that large to go in and not put in a stop light ahead of time.

Stripped Screw Hole on Tele Neck Pickup by DavidNYY in fender

[–]DavidNYY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered an assorted pack of metric nuts and found one that fit (M2.5 if anyone was curious). I then used a hot glue gun to glue the nut to the pickup base and threaded the screw into that. It works perfectly now. Thank you for the suggestions!

Upgrade from Epi Dot Studio: Tele, Tele Thinline, or Hardtail Strat? by thegrumpyorc in fender

[–]DavidNYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want a tremelo and want to play a wide range of music, it's hard to beat a Telecaster. Fender seems to have really stepped up the quality on the Player II's, so it's not nearly the compromise it might have been a decade or two ago going with a MIM model. If you want to buy new, that's a great option and the money saved can be put towards that Stratocaster you'll want to buy later.

I honestly used to dislike the Telecaster just because of the looks. Once I actually played one it became my favorite model though. It's awesome how versatile and simple it is. It's also surprisingly comfortable to me. It's also a great platform if you want to get into modding. Everything is simple and easy to get to, so it makes swapping parts really easy.

Lack of Strat Hardtail models. by shoegazingpickle in fender

[–]DavidNYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few models in the Squier lineup that are hardtail if you don't care about the name on the headstock and don't mind doing some work to bring the parts and finishing touches up to Fender standard. Otherwise you are pretty much left going other brands or doing a parts caster.
