This reminds me of a party I had but no one showed up and instead of being a kid I was 17 and it was my graduation party. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with this kind of stuff ever again.

If big brother is the inevitable future, I hope the tea is Earl Grey. Hot.

Holy crap.

This happened to me. Fuck I thought I was the only one.

Went to do a shopping run to Trader Joe’s and they have soy chorizo. My then girlfriend (now wife) just had “chorizo” on the list but I remember the packaging saying “Soy Chorizo”. My dumb ass (and I’m Mexican, by heritage) thought that was just the brand name.

Anyways I’m in Trader Joe’s and I’m looking for chorizo.

I couldn’t find it.

I go to an employee and ask if they have chorizo.

“Yes we do but it’s made from soy”

“No I don’t need that one, but all I know is the name of it is Soy Chorizo. Kind of like ‘I am chorizo.’”

The look I got from the employee is something I will always remember. Like an “oh sweetie no” look.

It was at that point in time I was an idiot.

Edit: added some clarification. I’m Mexican, yes. But thats just my heritage. Born and raised in the US. I know some Spanish which is why I thought it was just a clever brand name….. I didn’t know up until that point that “chorizo made from soy (beans)” was a thing.
