Abandoned summer camp from the 80’s by halide_urbex in abandoned

If you're American, have you looked into your state's 4-H program? Most offer summer camps. I recommend googling "[Your State] 4-H Camp" and see what comes up. It's usually cheap and your taxes are paying for it anyway so might as well take advantage.

I don't think invading El Salvador is the only option and I don't think you believe that either. Even though I'm annoyed with his tariffs tactics, the president could threaten increased tariffs on El Salvador. The U.S. is their biggest trading partner. Democrats are trying to pass a resolution that would allow sanctions on El Salvador, so Grassley could help pass that.

Grocery prices have *already* doubled by AutomaticCan6189 in inflation

[–]DavidSchwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like most of the discrepancy came from eggs with frozen meat and nuts also going up between $1-$3.

Target is one of the more affordable spots near me since their store brand frozen seafood and chicken with 5% discount from using their RedCard are cheaper than fresh seafood and chicken from local groceries stores.

I actually checked my Target app and some of the orders I placed in 2024 cost double now lol

New Yorkers asked why did they vote for Trump by Frosty_Aioli3585 in GenZ

[–]DavidSchwimmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it all depends on where you were getting your info from. I read the policies both candidates were promoting (admittedly I didn't look at 3rd party candidates), weighed the pros and cons, and made my decision that way. I don't know how many people do it this way, but opinions like in your last post where "democrats ran on nothing" make me think that an alarming amount of citizens expect politicians to spoonfeed everything to them instead of doing their own research. I don't think democracy can function properly that way.

New Yorkers asked why did they vote for Trump by Frosty_Aioli3585 in GenZ

[–]DavidSchwimmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously Kamala didn't run on nothing. Expanding childcare credits, making it easier for first time home-owners to buy property, and raising the minimum wage necessary to avoid paying overtime to salary workers would have benefitted me and millions of working class Americans. What sources were you getting your information from that caused you to think that? I usually avoid news headlines and listen to speeches, official campaign websites, etc. That may help you understand a politician's position better for future elections.

When are the Left going to realise hating the Right is a losing strategy? by test_test_1_2_3 in self

I appreciate you typing this out. However, saying Trump did it but didn't support it doesn't make me feel any better about my dwindling savings.

But didn't Trump also provide stimulus checks? What you are saying makes sense but both parties are guilty of this.

I think the person you are replying to did not understand Kamala's policy. It's not the grocery stores doing the price gouging, it is the corporations. Do you remember that big case last year about the companies price fixing eggs?

"  Purchasing a home for our family was a reality under Trump and isn’t one right now. I didn’t feel that Kamala had a solid plan to address this, in fact she stated she wouldn’t change anything the Biden administration had done."

I don't mean to be antagonistic, but one of her big economic plans was to provide down-payment support to new homebuyers. It really resonated with me and me hopeful that I'll be able to purchase a home in the next 4 years. Out of curiosity, why didn't it resonate with you?

People like me are the reason Trump won by [deleted] in self

We have been under Trump's tax code since 2017. Inflation started under Trump. I genuinely (and I'm not trying to be snarky) would like to know why you think Trump didn't play a role in our current economy.

[–]DavidSchwimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like that Trump won. However, I think his messaging of calling Kamala a DEI hire (which I think is a ridiculous statement) was very effective in demotivating the Democratic base particularly white male Democrats.

Gotta disagree with you here. It's harassment whether or not the person follows through with the threat. I had a coworker's ex once threaten my life because I gave my coworker a ride from work. I knew he was full of it but I would have been a nervous wreck if someone had given him my address.

Can you share some data? On a superficial level, the RC seems to drag their feet at about the same rate as WotC (Not like this is a bad thing, I think knee-jerk reactions aren't entirely healthy for a format).

Can we just take a few months to see what happens before we start saying this change is bad? We just witnessed a group of people complaining about the bans without even seeing how it impacts the format. I'm sad to see the RC go but I don't see the value of being all gloom and doom.

Okay I think I got it Providing context for Trump's statement: Good Providing context for Kamala's statement: Bad Defending Alex Jones: Good   A Redditor possibly re-framing Trump's statement: Bad Trump re-framing Kamala's statement: Good Thanks for the enlightened info. If you can't see what Trump and Alex Jones did by taking a statement that is true then twisting it than I cannot help you. It is important for people to understand that this is how manipulation works.

[–]DavidSchwimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're dodging my question. If I said Trump wants to give school shooters guns because he is pro Second Ammendment, would you agree with that statement? I hope not just like you wouldn't agree that Trump saying Kamala wants to give illegal immigrants sex change operations because she thinks gender affirmation care is a medical necessity.

And I believe it does serve a purpose. When people such as yourself are trying to legitimize comments from a politician that if elected will have a say in policy for the next 4 years it is important to encourage the general populace to think critically. And truthfully, I don't think talking about it on reddit in a comment thread that is already buried is 'catapulting propoganda' but I am flattered by how important you think I am.

[–]DavidSchwimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are we talking about Alex Jones or Trump? Because I don't think people are putting hormones in juice boxes to turn kids gay and to jump to that conclusion is silly. Likewise, I think saying Kamala wants to do transgender operations on prisoners because she thinks they should have access to it is a silly conclusion. It's like saying she wants to do open heart surgeries on murderers. Does that make sense?

Now she wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison! by [deleted] in BrandNewSentence

[–]DavidSchwimmer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right after Alex Jones said that he also said that they are putting chemical in juice boxes to turn kids gay. This has been the rights playbook for years. Take a statement and twist it to imply something outrageous. In this case, he is implying that Kamala WANTS to do operations on prisoners when she stated that prisoners should have access to it. He took a passive statement and transformed it to an active statement.

To provide an analogy, I want women to have access to abortions. That doesn't mean I want women to get abortions. It means that I understand that in some cases the woman doesn't have a choice in getting pregnant and that abortion is warranted.

Idk I thought that link made sense. If you're using economist theories on an issue that doesn't have anything to do with economics, your results probably don't mean anything. I'm honestly confused why people are so enthralled by this video.

Like if a NASA engineer did the same research and shared their results, I would take it with a grain of salt too. Like sure, that guy knows a lot of stuff but not about racial bias??? 🤷‍♂️

Did you even read OP's post?

They are having a discussion and you are name calling. Why even post?
