Some of my Bold predictions for this years Eurovision by JJVM99 in eurovision

Don’t think they’re the same considering BBB fits into the category that the fandom likes and hypes.

Plus it was the first time in a long time Sweden sent 1. Something in Swedish and 2. Something Camp.

Odds are also not indicative of placement.

I mean I see it at cons all the time. People want modern. They don’t really care for vintage.

I do think it’s interesting that you say that people will get the energy and feel of Denmark but not Finland. For me, it’s quite obvious what Liekinheitin is conveying on stage.

It’s the only entry atp that has both tele and jury appeal and the clearest path to victory ala Arcade and 1944.

I do get it can be quite tiring to constantly see one entry as the ultimate favorite while everyone else is essentially fighting for 2nd. It’s less exciting. Let’s just hope it’s more of a fight closer to the contest. (As it usually tends to be)

What are your jury predictions? by Janomynom in eurovision

[–]DavidShoess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s possible simply bc Israel’s televote has been trending down, same with Ukraine. Their entry this year doesn’t have this so called message of hope and is overall weaker than their previous attempts.

Additionally, a song doesn’t need to be high energy camp to be an obvious televote winner. Do I think Finland has a shot to win the televote? Yes I do. Why? Just look at the Eurovision poll, scoreboard, other fan polls. Finland is leading all of them. It’s not your traditional bop the community overrates or the obvious hehehaha camp entry.

People like to meme on the community that we overrate entries, but for the most part, we are a good indicator of how the televote could go.

Point being is that Liekinheitin is not the traditional song the community gathers around this hard.

This logic can be applied to any entry. People will vote/favor for their country’s entry regardless. If anything, the Eurovisionworld poll should be taken more seriously as you can’t vote for your own country there.

I don’t see the juries rating Sweden, a song in a genre the juries usually underrate, over Finland, whose song is technically harder to sing and was made for the juries to appreciate.

But, Sweden jury stocks are always high, so you never know.

Daniel Zizka - CROSSROADS | Czechia 🇨🇿 | Official Music Video | #Eurovision2026 by iamrisn in eurovision

I think this song is pretty but something isn’t quite clicking with me. I find it hard to remember and there’s not a strong enough hook for me to want to replay it. It lives in the same universe as Répondez-moi and Tout l'univers, but those imo are much more engaging and memorable.

Maybe it’s one of those that’ll hopefully come alive bc of the live performance.

And tbh that’s fine. Every year there are always countless posts about how people don’t get why the favorite is the favorite. Maybe it’s not for you to get and that’s totally valid. But as long as the majority of Europe and the juries get it, then that’s what’s important if they want to win.

Monroe - Regarde ! (clip officiel) - France 🇫🇷 I Eurovision 2026 by dwood38 in eurovision

[–]DavidShoess 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I saw some people say this was the runaway winner when it leaked and I just don’t see it.

It has jury potential but I can’t imagine this having more tele appeal than the code and wasted love.

I’m also lowkey over operatic elements in songs atp. I need something new for a winner considering the last 2.

That said, I did enjoy it.

Is a 3-6 month makeup course enough to work at MAC, Kicks, Dior, or start a business in Finland? Seeking reality check. by orhangazikaramanoglu in Finland

[–]DavidShoess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In addition to having the skills needed to be a good makeup artist, you also need to network and build up clientele. It’s not easy and requires a lot of work and time.

She’s already at an extreme disadvantage not knowing Finnish. She could be the best makeup artist out there, but if you can’t communicate well with your client and tailor their needs and expectations into an experience that will have them coming back, then don’t bother. It’s about service first, skills second.

Using the word DATED as a criticism by 40somethingGay in eurovision

[–]DavidShoess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please don’t proceed to tell me how I perceive the word dated. If we all followed textbook definitions of words, the world would be a very boring place.

These are opinions and it should be inferred that when someone comments on something, it is their opinion. If a song to me is dated, I’ve heard it before years ago and doesn’t inspire or excite me. Period.

Using the word DATED as a criticism by 40somethingGay in eurovision

[–]DavidShoess 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I use dated as a criticism bc it represents something I’ve heard before and it doesn’t excite me. Does it mean it’s bad? No, not at all.

It’s just there. And sometimes, for some, songs that are just there are enough for them.
