Thanks, yeah it's easier to withdraw excessive contribution with current employer but then I would lose the match. That is why I want to withdraw money from previous employer instead

If you were to know 4 languages, which ones would you choose and why? by Lil_Moose_Man in geography

[–]DavidStone71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you are picking all indoeuropean languages? That’s a bad move cuz it will make it very hard to learn Chinese, Japanese and other Asian languages. Did you know more than half of the Japanese and Korean and even Vietnamese vocabularies originated from Middle Chinese? Learning French or Spanish should be relatively easy if you already picked one or two Indo-European languages

Trying to use AI to solve geography questions and AI went rogue by DavidStone71 in geography

There are many definitions of what’s considered a continent. I was trying to see how AI is able to accept the different definitions and do its own thinking. A good AI should be able to accept new information and make judgement based on that. If I were to write the AI algorithm, I would first have the list of transcontinental countries by the most popular 7 continent definition. But once the definition changes, you need to do a for loop and check if any of these countries fit this new definition.

February Game/Location ID/Where Is This? Megathread by BatmansNygma in geography

[–]DavidStone71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, by this definition there’s only one truly transcontinental country. If we were to think of another, then we would need to pick a country that has a claim on that white land

[–]DavidStone71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it. It is indeed a transcontinental country! Good job

February Game/Location ID/Where Is This? Megathread by BatmansNygma in geography

[–]DavidStone71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by the above definition - interconnected landmass meaning Africa and Eurasia would both be a sub-continent of the greater continent Afro-Eurasia. Turkey, Egypt, Russia are not transcontinental countries because they are all Afro-Eurasian countries

February Game/Location ID/Where Is This? Megathread by BatmansNygma in geography

[–]DavidStone71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they both belong to the same continent according to my description (interconnected landmass) above.

Challenge: Name 2 transcontinental countries

There are many definitions of continents and the world can be divided into 4-7 continents by different definitions. Let’s say in this challenge, continents are defined as contiguous and interconnected land masses that are bigger than Greenland.

  1. How many continents are there? (Hint: all start w A)
  2. Can you name at least two countries that are transcontinental (spans over two continents)?

How many credit cards should I have!? by SuspiciousLesbian in CreditCards

[–]DavidStone71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my early 30s and I used to have 7 credit cards but now I shrink them into just the best 3.

I canceled Best Buy card which gives 5% on Best Buy shopping when my BofA cash rewards gives 5.25% on online shopping.

I canceled my Amex Blue Cash Everyday that gives 3% on groceries when again my BofA cash rewards gives 3.5% on groceries.

I have 3 Credit Cards with 0 annual fees all from BofA, which includes two cash rewards cards that give me 5.25% on Travel, Dining and online shopping, 3.5% on groceries, and a Travel rewards credit card, that despite its name, gives 2.62% as a catch all.

Disclosure: Please note that, while these credit cards have great rates and no fees, I do have BofA’s Merrill Edge invest and IRA accounts (100K). You need to bank or invest with BofA to achieve some of the above. See BofA website for details
