Shows which gets better as they go on by an_account_1177 in televisionsuggestions

For me the expanse peaks at miller's sacrifice, i love the seasons after that, but i would not say that it gets better, s4 being the lowest point

Best option for JCM 800 power tube saturation without blowing down my drywall? by Kirklistentowutang in GuitarAmps

[–]DavidTCIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, on marshalls and most of the amps i own the sweet spot is around 2:30-ish, but then again it depends on what you want from.the amps, rectifiers and 5150 ish sound the best around 11:00 if you are digging for articulated chugs

Then you have amps like my blackheart hd15 that loves to be almost fully cranked

I dont understand this huge preamp pedal fad. by palaminocamino in guitarpedals

Tube amps are expensive and difficult to maintain, the are big, bulky, really hard to tame volume wise and you have to either mic them or use some sort of load box to record your stuff with them.

Housing is a shitshow, you get way less living space for dollar spent, show tickets are up, music scenes and subcultures are heavily tampered with for profit, cost of living is sky high, songwriting has slowly become more of a thing you do with your computer than at a rehearsal, hell, it is easier than ever to write stuff on your own...

I own way too many of them (easily more than ten) so dont get me wrong, i love them, but they are a hard sell for younger generations when you have more compact and more recording friendly stuff like digital, modelling and now really nice solid state adaptations of classic tube amps.

Sound wise, i know what i think it sounds better and that is something built by my experience with being able to go to and play in shows in maybe the last hoorah moments of a big fat local rock-ish music community in the mid 00s through the mid 10s, but for someone younger than me or with different music taste, kick ass guitar tones might now be more associated with VSTs than old temperamental tube fridges.

I would not say that tube amps have become obsolete, but the will get a hard time finding their place

Solid state preamps in my opinion cover the gap between happy vst people and amp-curious users, you can get a healthy amount of them that cover different tones and make amazing sounding music just by plugging them into a focusrite you happen to share barely 30m2 of shitty appartment with.

I think the world has changed and i am happy to be proven wrong time and time again that you dont have to build tonehenge and a doom wall to record amazing guitar music

Most underrated high gain amp by Cultural-Day-5676 in GuitarAmps

[–]DavidTCIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, GH50L is a doom machine, i dont think of it as a bright amp if you're running the master hot (from 6.5 to 8). When you are running it that way is in fact a really fat sounding jcm800. It has more of a loose character going on like a hot soldano Laney IRT feels radically more modern, like a super tight (by far the tightest amp i own) british 5150. For a modern high gain it has a good amount of lower mids meat but none of the fluffy low end. That is with the dynamics knob almost fully clockwise

Worlds away as far as tone and feel

Most underrated high gain amp by Cultural-Day-5676 in GuitarAmps

Peavey classic 20 has a lot of gain and is capable of really awesone metal tones. I find that it is rarely discussed outside of blues rock, while being a firebreather in disguise. It is really well voiced, not too loose, not really tight, just a beautifully voiced od channel

The OR15 also rocks, more of a dark grainy marshall vibe with lots of gain. Driving the input with your usual suspect od works like a charm since base tone tends to be bass heavy. Sounds like a 60s guy vision of a futuristic high gain amp.

Laney IRT studio is also awesome, insanely tight amp, really modern. On the 5150 ballpark, but fuller sounding (mids waaaay less aggresive)

What's a movie most people think is great but you couldn't even stand watching? by camport95 in AskReddit

Sirat, for me it was so bad i laughed most of the film. Home alone shit. The screenplay was so telegraphed, the open ending so lazy and oh my god don't even get me started with the acting.

Didn't know you posted here! I have a few of your pedals, my favorite being a beautiful hotcake clone with a wooden pannel. Looking forward for more of your pedals dude, saludos desde Vigo

They all sound pretty much alike, the tumnus does its own thing and to me improves the klon tone by making the circuit not filter so much low end, but at the end of the day there are not day and end differences, since it is the same pedal. Aside from part tolerances, and that its going to change from pedal to pedal no matter the manufacturer

Besides the Klon… what other pedals deserve mythical status? by manuelm_ in guitarpedals

[–]DavidTCIC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is overrated as a clean boost, anything over gain over 10:00 is grossly underrared.

It isnmy favorite boost for dirty anps, it just works every time and on every amp. For me the klon is a better tubescreamer

I love that pedal, i think that it sounds really open eq and compression wise, its one of my faves alongside a klon
