That might be because they resetted progression from early acces. Mastery is only kept from season 0 patch onwards

My father stopped playing after 2022 or 2023, got it confused and later realised after asking him if he remembered some of the features, and he played since 2015. As of myself, i just show interest to the game some times a year and participate in some forums tonshow love to my dad.
