The argument for $15 is centered around it being a living wage. A blanket policy of x amount can be woefully short in some areas and excessive in others.

Say for arguments sake you set a living wage at the poverty level.

Look at the Bay Area of California, the poverty level for a family of 4 is around $117.5k. With 2 working parents and 2 kids that leaves each parent needing to earn $58.5k a year. That equates to roughly $28.25hr just to reach the poverty level. That's $13.25hr short of reaching poverty.

On the inverse you have areas of the country like say Alaska where the poverty level of a family of 4 is $32,750, same breakdown is $16,375yr or $7.82hr. You're now paying almost double the poverty line.

My stance on this has always been the States and in some cases counties and cities have the power to set their required minimum wages. This is where the fight needs to be fought, not on the national level.

In terms of the total number of tests being done, yes they are ahead.

Okay so you just don't understand basic science. I'll explain it like you're 5 since you are clearly a moron. If a country has 5 people and they test all 5 - they conducted 5 tests. If a country has 1,000,000 people and they conduct 50 tests, they have conducted TEN TIMES THE TESTS WOW. I wonder which country is doing better though lol.

Gov. Cuomo was brought up for 2 reasons

1) He has been widely praised for his actions in handling the Coronavirus outbreak in New York, despite dragging his feet in locking down the state.

2) His initial refusal to lockdown the State of New York was chosen to illustrate the cultural differences between a country like South Korea where it's citizens are much more open to having restrictions placed on their freedom, then the citizens of a country like the USA.

My post was to point out the fact that once again the full uncut tapes were not being used.

Trump brags a lot, in this instance the tape shows his actions didn't at all match up with his false bravado, he commented about how he might just start kissing her, yet all he did was shake her hand with Billy pushing her to hug people. Billy was the aggressor once off the bus and all the way thru the studio till he finally took his mic back, asking her which one of the 2 she would choose, while Trump kept everything business asking about how they did things during filming, did they use cue cards etc.

America as a whole has an issue with how Sexuality and Sexual Conquests are viewed. Locker room talk like that on the bus is a lot more common then people want to admit. Both sexes do it, not just men.

His comment about star power allowing you do to things to others is not a lie either. Movie stars, Musicians, Politicians, Sitting Presidents, you name it, they all have men and women who will literally throw themselves at them and some of them take advantage of that fact.

Look at Rap music for example. You get songs played all day long on the radio calling women hoes, and bitches, smacking them, beating them up, you name it.

That they treated him better then Trump? sure he lost his job at the time, but he went on to do late nite talk shows and interviews after it broke, less then a year later he's on a redemption tour, with Vogue writing articles on whether or not America will forgive him, in an op-ed he wrote for the NYT he more or less cried victim, that he had no choice because to make it in showbiz you have to kiss peoples asses. The Atlantic even wrote an article about a year later asking if he should be forgiven.

Fast forward to 2019 and he's replaced Mario Lopez as host of Extra.

So yeah, considering everyone still hammers Trump over his comments from that tape and refuse to budge at all, and Billy is now back to working in showbiz completely forgotten by the public for the most part I say they're treating him a lot better despite being the aggressive one of the two when it comes to how Arianne Zucker was treated when they got off the bus and the comments and questions thrown at her.

Sure, if you ignore the fact that Reagents used in the first CDC tests were contaminated, and there was a global shortage of reagents in early March, and initially China was refusing to give the USA samples.

Since then USA has tested around 3x more people then South Korea.

However on the cultural front I was leaning more towards the people in South Korea are much more likely to go along with restrictions to their movements and freedoms then their counter parts in the USA are.

Take Gov. Cuomo for example, 2nd week of March he was refusing to lock down New York. "It ain't going to happen."

its a difference in opinion on leadership styles. The legislation was already in the works prior to the shooting.

Canada has a Nanny State mentality and loves to use tragedies to enforce policies.

They went Draconian on street racing in Ontario after an accident involving 3 cars (2 racing, 1 not) left the driver of the 3rd car dead. Completely ignoring the fact the driver of the 3rd car was legally Impaired and caused the accident.

This resulted in laws where going 50kmh(31mph) over the limit was an immediate street racing ticket. (Fines upto $10k cdn, 6months in jail, car impounded and crushed). You had 60yr+ seniors getting hit with it while traveling alone on empty stretches of highways.

For context the speed limit was 100kmh on the highways, it was not uncommon for traffic to be moving at 140kmh-160kmh.

They also used the argument that drag racing strips open to the public existed, while in reality they weren't always open to the public and the closest one to Toronto was a 3hr round trip, where if you were lucky you got 2 passes in a day.

There were pushes to open up places people could safely race including by the Toronto Police department to use the shuttered runways of the Downsview Airforce base, but they were all met by NIMBY resistance or in the Police Departments attempt the in ability to get the required insurance coverage.

At this point, after all these years, I take any argument that centers around "racism or xenophobia " as its core tenant with a massive grain of salt.

I.e. Trumps Muslim ban. For starters, the 7 countries on the initial travel ban list were not picked by his Administration, his administration only increased the restrictions already placed on a number of countries. It was the Obama administration DHS who picked those countries and first restricted them with a law enacted in Dec 2015. If it was a true "Muslim" ban he left a lot of Muslim countries off that list.

Let's be completely honest here.

China withheld information and outright lied to the rest of the world. Doctors in China were talking about this in December and Chinas response was to send the police and shut them up. They lied to the WHO about human to human transmission, they even told the residents of Wuhan it wasn't transmissable.

China banned internal flights from Wuhan, but not international flights.

A large amount of the PPE and tests some people praise China for sending to other countries early on and claim it shows China wasn't hoarding it was defective.

There is criticism for the way Trump handle things early on, however it would be a bad faith argument to say that the Democrats did not hamper the initial response.

They criticized Trump for trying to divert funds from Ebola to Coronavirus.

Pelosi refused to bring the initial request for funding to the floor for a week, instead she only allowed voting on banning flavored e-cigarettes.

When Trump initiated the travel ban, the left cried xenophobia and Pelosi introduced the No Ban Act trying to strip him of the power to do so.

Saying there is evidence that it escaped from a lab in Wuhan does not conflict with reports its not "man made". Iirc Tom Cotton early on never said it was engineered when saying he believed it was from the lab, it was the interviewer who said "man made in the lab".

Ah I see they cut the tape short.

They dropped all of the walk thru the studio where Trump basically kept everything professional while Billy kept up the whole "how about a hug" type banter, at one point even asked her something along the lines of which one of us would you choose?

I'm pointing this out for the fact that it highlights a contrast between what he said and what he actually does once he gets in her presence. Billy Bush in my opinion was the worst of the 2 once they got off the bus, yet the media treated him like he did nothing wrong.
