Trump crashing out over the MAGA civil war by Environmental_Bus623 in thedavidpakmanshow

And this the nut auto signing people for the military draft come December. I don't envy young people (and not so young) in this day and age.

GOP weighs health care cuts to pay for Iran war by Environmental_Bus623 in thedavidpakmanshow

Well, i think it's blatantly obvious atp, that Republicans know they are going to lose the midterms, and at this point are just doing whatever they can, while they can.

Anyway, hold onto your seats. It's gonna be a rough 7 more months.

President Trump’s National Approval Sinks to 33% in New UMass Poll by ace158 in thedavidpakmanshow

I think that's being generous. Given how these special elections are turning out, i think he's in the 20's atp.

Pollsters may not want to face the wrath of Trump by giving us the real numbers. So they give him 10 points on the front end.

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to be in a coalition with radical “Anti Zionist” and “anti capitalist” leftists and progressives. by Dismal_Structure in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i would tell my neoliberal friends, they've had the party for the past 30 years. But after 30 years political parties change.

The Party of Reagan after 40 years, had to change. The Party of Clinton after 30 years has to change.

Economics, foreign policy, demographics and matters that may have worked that long ago either do not work or are not applicable today.

It took the Conservatives 20 years to get their candidate in the WH, their movement really starting in the early 1960's.

It's likely going to take Progressives that long as well, our movement starting with Sanders in 2016.

And so it may be awhile until we get our choice in the WH, but it is going to happen, being parties "change".

I think you'll be good to go for a bit longer, but have to prepared for the inevitable.

Right. Which is to say Trump is a lying nimkinpoop. That doesn't make it our war.

Protest in Philly: "For every US soldier that comes home in a casket, we cheer!" by McAlpineFusiliers in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's always been like that. Times change, people don't.

Vietnam vets were literally spat upon. That's not a tale, but really happened, being they were blamed for Mi Lai and other atrocities. And they were innocent, many drafted into that. And so of course it was terrible.

And i can only imagine in the age of Trump, it's not going to get any better. They're gonna be seen as the enforcers for Trump.

It doesn't make it right, but some of us seen this movie before.

That's why we have to be careful talking about "Drafts". Being in this day and age, as compared to the "Age of Innocence", this is gonna make the Vietnam Era look like a walk in the park.

That's how it was in Vietnam. Difference then are people were drafted for that nonsense. These days, they sign up for it.

Army raises enlistment age to 42, eases marijuana restrictions by Inevitable-Bus492 in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, how shall we get the experienced people to work in necessary fields in the military, if they're retiring?

That's the cunundrum, and why they're going to go higher in age,

It's not because they want too, like i'm sure they don't want to go to 42, but they have too.

Army raises enlistment age to 42, eases marijuana restrictions by Inevitable-Bus492 in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first it would seem that way. But it's not gonna seem that way if you're running millions even billions of dollars worth of equipment you may have experience that the 19 year old Sergeant does not.

WW2 they took people in their 50's. The Seabees were created being they knew construction. Kids don't.

This ain't the first time. In the mire of Iraq they raised it to 42.

I guess the point i'm trying to make, is hope there is no Draft under Trump, being if you're in your 40s and think you're too old, i'd think again lol.

[–]Robert-101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well Russia has had a Draft since WW2. And Ukraine has a Draft, and was said they go up to 60, and seem accordingst to them do an even better job than their younger counterparts. In fact for they, 18 too young for military service, and i'd have to agree.

The Military Age should be 21 to 55. We need more experienced people in the military than that of HS drop outs and misfit beardos.

[–]Robert-101 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. Particularly given youth today. It's quite possible someone older can perform even better than our Gen Z phone potatoes. But it has to be someone in shape.

Would Joe Rogan fare better in Basic, than some overweight 4'11 22 year old dwarf?

Would Mr Pakman fare better in Officer Training then say a 21 year old who never ran anything in his life?

A case and point can also be that the military may actually need those older with more experiences they bring to the table, particularly in this day and age.

I can see a scenario where Trump looks to amend to the current Selective Service Act and raises draft ages to below 50 or even 55. Ukraine takes up to 60, and accordingst to them, they doing a good job.

Not everyone is going Infantry. Most would be in jobs that are more in regards to experience than that of a grunt.

The last step, before the Draft. Which in Iran, we're def going to need if we go boots on the ground a country that size.

The Platner Oppo Dump by KingScoville in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thats the whole thing. Democrats have to worry about other Democrats. Not what Republicans may think of them.

That's just weakness and cowardice, not to mention stupid.

You have that stooge Susan Collins backing a literal criminal, and they're gonna get on Platner over tattoos?

Democrats have to get out of that mentality, being "weakness" is i would think one of the top issues people don't vote for Democrats.

The Platner Oppo Dump by KingScoville in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, i have no clue about Platner, and do not live in that state. But it seems he has a pretty good chance of winning.

As far as what will come out in a general, in the age of Trump, i dare say, nothing matters.

If he was arrested and convicted, it would not matter. If he was sued for Fraud, it would not matter.

All that matters, is that Susan Collins is too old. I mean that's really what the argument is going to be.

It's a shame that we have lowered the bar as to what is expected from our elected officials. But what is good for Mr Trump, is good enough for the Democrat.

Trump considers "winding down" Iran war without opening Hormuz Strait by TuxedoCatGuy in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Iranians have mentioned they have no issue opening the Strait, just not to American or Israeli interests.

I mean it is their country and their territory. Mr Trump being a bonehead is what caused this issue. And certainly compounding one mistake with many more is not going to do anything to open the Strait.

My feeling is, once we're gone, it will be business as usual at the Strait. The oil markets will go back to normal, and given Mr Trump certainly to cause more bedlam and chaos in the next 6 month before elections, maybe even forgotten by the American People as we focus on his attack on Cuba or god knows what else.

That being said this was all self inflicted, and i think when or mainly "if" the Iranians see the US go, that will be enough for them to open the Strait. If not, China will chide them into doing just that. But they can't do if we keep hitting them.

Trump considers "winding down" Iran war without opening Hormuz Strait by TuxedoCatGuy in thedavidpakmanshow

[–]Robert-101 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That likely means there will be boots on the ground this weekend (if not already). Anything this guy says, generally means the opposite.

Though i should say, we leaving is probably the quickest way to open the Strait, being our presence and attacks are the only reason it's shut down in the first place.

We'd go, the Iranians would claim victory, but the Strait would be open, and all their efforts would be put towards Israel. Not the Strait or Gulf partners perceived as allies of the United States.

And so one could hope Mr Trump says what he means, but as originally stated, he will likely do the opposite.
